A man of high moral character...but a terrible term as President. But his presidency caused the US to go in a much better direction...IMO...All said No president is perfect...

Very well respected, and great works after he left the Presidency. Well educated, was a nuclear engineer and captained an atomic submarine while in the Navy.

Actually, he never did command a submarine, nuclear or otherwise. He did serve as an executive officer on a diesel/electric sub. He attended nuclear power school in 1953 but never actually served on a nuke because he left the program when his father died.

He was affiliated with the Navy Nuclear Power Program early on, but never completed training and never served aboard a nuke sub and certainly never commanded one.
This is true, however he served in a variety of billets, including engineer officer of diesel submarines and qualified to command submarines. When father passed away, he left the navy to run the family business. Nevertheless, he did at least serve in his country's military, something many politicians chose not to do.

Outstanding president. A profoundly devout Christian. Faithful to his wife. His post-presidential years were marked by excellence in many multiple venues both church and secular. Watched him play softball one summer when I drove down to Plains, GA. Went to church that morning. He was seated two pews ahead of me and my girlfriend. Just regular folks. Never regretted voting for him. God bless him and his family. Sincerely. bruce.

He was a man of unquestionable character, compassion, faith and integrity. He dedicated his life to helping others whether by his participation in world peace, Habitat for Humanity and bringing safe drinking water to areas of the world that had none among other endeavors. Who among us here can claim the same? I have respect and admiration for his life well lived. RIP.

I will not speak ill will of him as a man. He had a good honest God Fearing Soul. His politics however convinced me that I should start voting at the age of 19. I haven't missed an election since Reagon first ran to replace him.

I believe him to be a good man with nothing but the best of intentions. God Bless Jimmy Carter.
