I had just remarked in another thread the other day that I never seem to encounter these in the wild but would surely like to, when lo-and-behold up popped this little shooter-grade diamond in the dirt in the local classifieds - she needed a GOOD cleaning, but for what I have invested and how nicely it turned out after a good scrub, I'm pretty dang happy with it. The PC Magnas don't number but are era-correct with dark washers; this one should serial to 1970 per the book with S/N K964xxx. Action is solid, a bit of carry wear with some possible cold-blue applied to the barrel near muzzle especially, but I'm thinking this should make for a great range and occasional carry gun, in rotation with my 640-1 and Colt D.S.

I've had a few 4" 15 and Combat Masterpiece examples before but happy to add my first short-barreled example, particularly as someone who prefer the SB design on the K-frame and the round butt on the J-frame, though admittedly this is personal preference. Looking forward to getting this one to the range soon.

Gotta love those Model 15 snubbies! You found a beauty- congratulations! We inherited this Model 15-2 from my wife's grandfather, it was his EDC as a Calif. Chief of Detectives in the 60s and 70s. This one is 1962/1964, and one of the first commercially available 15-2 snubs. I've posted this before...it probably should have been released as a rare Model 56 (it's in the middle of the s/n range) but for some reason ended up as an LEO revolver. Enjoy!

Yep, they pop up sometimes when you LEAST expect it, nice find, glad you jumped on it! My 15-4 snubbie in a nice leather SafariLand holster popped up a week after I found my first other 15; a 4" 15-3, at the same LGS. They are really fun to shoot! Congrats.

Picked up a 15-3 two or three years ago. First one I had seen in eons. Not a common piece by any means. 1970 gun, nice shape but no box. Always considered them a bit of an odd duck. Round butt would have made more sense but Smith didn't make round butt target frames at the time. The ejector rod is too short, three inch barrel would have been handier. I doubt they were a huge seller. Standard issue for IRS CID agents at the time.
