Just got back from North Carolina....

I really wish I could have stayed longer. I would have liked to check out some of the gun shops, local barbecue joints, etc. :)

Unfortunately, I have to work tomorrow. Wife has tons of vacation time to use up. :)

Yep...Same here on the Va. coast...In Virginia, the Governor and Senators are all carpetbaggers...This is a military area so there is little or no regional culture other than military. A very good friend moved to Florida from New Bern, NC a few years ago. He is ready to move back "up south" because he is surrounded by Northeastern Democrats who are driving him nuts.

I recently became friends with a young woman from North Carolina. She was attending Iowa State University to get a Phd. in Veterinary Science. I noticed her lack of southern accent and inquired about that. She said her Grandma insisted they speak without accent so they wouldn't sound uneducated. True story and the family is long-time southerners. She got her Phd. and now has a job in Fargo, ND....can you believe that?? The accent up there is all chattering teeth.

So while Yankees are filling jobs down south, at least one southerner did the reverse.

My daughter had to learn to talk in a neutral voice being in both radio and TV... hard to do for a Southern girl!:D

Carolinas.....

Western Carolinas and East Tennessee. It's easy to see why people would want to move there.

FN is in Columbia. Glock is in Marietta Ga.

Reuters says, Ruger, Colt Remington, Beretta all have plans to move south.

We REALLY need to send special invitation to S&W to come down here. Land is reasonable, resources are plentiful, willing work force....

The large company I worked for had a large building on Wall Street as their corporate office. After 60 years they moved out to the country.

This is the 2nd invasion-the 1st happened in the 1860s. The current invaders waited until we repaired all the damage and rebuilt our country, and then came in again, only in greater numbers than before. And the problems are numerous because of it.

None of them have a gun heritage, so they want to disarm all of us, because they are scared a gun is going to jump up and shoot them all by itself.

Most of them can't drive intelligently and safely, as you can't talk on your cellphone or text on your device and have a hand free to put on your turn signal.

Nothing grates my nerves worse than to hear someone down here say 'youse'. There is no word like this in the Southerner vernacular.

I don't care how you did it where ever you came from, you're not there anymore---unfortunately. So shut up about it.

Everything down here is wrong compared to 'home'. Well, US AIR can have you home before dark. Book a ticket!

I know I am going to heaven when I die, because my homeland has turned to Hell with all these outsiders.

Go home, all of you!

Years and years ago my now ex-wife and I were traveling through Kentucky in May. We stopped at a Waffle House. While waiting to use the restroom my now ex-wife commented to the woman next to her, "It is cold for May." The woman replied, "Oh honey, it's cold for may (me) too."

I guess I'm very thankful that I can still escape from most of the crazy people! Thing about outsides.. they don't know where they're going... but I do!:D
No problem getting lost when you have a few million acres out your back door in three states.. and I know every road.
The other week, I filled the Jeep up and decided to do a little looking around, took the back roads to Tellico and hit the Skyway to Robbinsville...and if you're lucky, you may see a doe standing on the edge of the road!:D

Dropped off into the Citico Wilderness to check out a few trout streams then back south into the Bald River Wilderness...
just had to go by the falls!

Took the Wildcat Road into Coker Creek, then back roads to the Hiwassee River... 8 to 10 hour trip.. and never hit a red light!

if I can still do that.. I can put-up with a few Yankees!:D

We also have; Beargrass, Swepsonville, Frog Level, Flat Rock, Efland, Swansboro, Bethania, Rural Hall just to name a few others.

Actually, I have been to half or more of those.

Also a little area called "Iron Mine". There are some open mine shafts from the mid 19th century. Don't go walking around the woods at night, you might just vanish.

How about a mountain called Chunky Gal Mountain in the
"Land Of The Noon Day Sun"?

I know the mountains in Western NC very well!

Loving that area since '72, Nantahala Outdoor Center near Wesser many times since then.
My parents had a place for years in Otto. The fire tower on top Albert Mtn. nearby on the AT might be a good place to watch the eclipse in a couple of years.

We had barriers up at the border but some people are just rude and drove through them. Next will be spike strips. NC is just too hot and humid, we have misquotes and gnats. Also we do not have any food that northers will eat and of course sweet tea (use google if you don't understand that). Oh and if you get a real hamburger (not fast food) don't complain when it comes with coleslaw and chili on it (no...not chili with beans). Just eat it and enjoy...then go home. :)
