Visited a local Gun show this weekend; looking for early S&W revolvers, saw several but out of price range. Came upon this very nice Mod. 67 4 inch. No cosmetic flaws. very tight and timing good; barrel and cylinder very nice, stocks excellent. Paid what I felt was fair ($450). Serial #6K43600. Appreciate input and approximate date. Shot it today, very Happy with accuracy and feel.

Very nice and you did just fine at $450 IMO !

The Model 67 is a basically a stainless Model 15 Combat Masterpiece,
The Model 67 was introduced around 1972 with SS rear sites and yours probably shipped in late 1974 when they began shipping with a black rear site after complaints the SS rear site was difficult to use in certain light conditions.

Thanks Engine49guy, appreciate the input. I have a Mod. 15 snubby and love it. Like this 67 just as much

The snub 15 is another interesting variation of the Model 15 ,
If you compare the rear site, frame and barrel on the snub 15 they are actually different than the 4" .
The rear site is from a snub 19, the barrel has a wide rib shortened 14 barrel profile and the frame has no step down at the front where it meets the barrel.

I had this nickel 15-3 snub but kept wishing it either had a round butt frame or a 3" barrel.

Nice 67!!! What is there not to like about them. My 67-0 is an early 1 with stainless rear sight. I like strange grips. These are Herretts that I came across. Someone added the metal butt plate. I refinished the wood, and buffed the butt plate. Bob

I've noticed that some of the stainless Smiths appear to have a high luster and some have almost a brushed look. Is the high luster due to polishing? This is my first stainless gun.

S&W has finished stainless in a number of different ways.
Semi-polished
Brushed look
Coarse sandblast
Matte bead blast
Vapor hone (very fine bead blast)

To name just a few.

Add to this the ease with which stainless can be polished and there's no end to what you may find.

I can't find the SN now, but looking at a couple of the features on that Model 67, I have reason to believe it's one I used to own. If so, you got a great gun at a "friends and family" price. When it came to me, it had the nicest trigger pull I had seen on a stainless S&W. When I got it, it was intended as a donor gun for a project, but it wasn't right for that, so I corrected a couple of minor cosmetic issues it had and sold it. I'll say again, if it's the gun I think it is, you got a great gun at a very good price. Congratulations!

Froggie

Froggie,

Bought it at the Virginia Beach Show. Just got back from the range, great shooter. About an inch & half group at 10 yds,10 rds. , SF no bench.

Got a relative beater 67 off GB recently for 400, polished it up some, thought I might change out some old night sights that had lost their glow - but took it to the range and discovered that my old eyes could see those big old sights just fine! That 67 and my 15 are just the sweetest shooting guns I own. Great find at a great price!

Here is the Model 67 (first year) I picked up a year ago...no one wanted it at a gunshow for $430, so I contacted the seller later and he parted with it for $350. The 67 is a very nice revolver!
