K-22 Combat Masterpiece questions

I’ve got a line on a K-22 Combat Masterpiece 4” 5 screw pre 18 I believe.
Serial is K18XXX or something like that. They are holding it for me. I will try to get a picture or 2

High probability is that it's a "what is is worth" question. Yes? No?

If so, box, condition info is very helpful. Also I know that many, many, people don't like to state what the asking price is for various reasons, but I personally find it easier to say yea or nay with that listed. What you want to do is entirely your decision.

That's a nice revolver. I don't think the big targets are original, but I would have them on my 6" 1947 K-22 Masterpiece if I owned them.

It’s high,but not outrageous. It dates to about ‘52 as do the non relieved targets it’s wearing. They’re a nice bonus.
I picked one up (k170688)7-8 years ago with muzzle wear and rubber grips for about $550

I would attempt to negotiate a lower price but those non-relieved targets are my favorites for K frames; it would likely go home with me even at the asking price.

Nice find!
IMO the early non relieved diamond target stocks are worth about $250 and a K22 CM gold box probably around $100 by themselves.

$650 for a clean five screw K22 CM is a bargain.
IIRC that serial range would put it in the time frame where stock medallions were Stainless steel.

Btw the wide target hammer was an available option in 52 but the standard hammer was the High Speed or Fishhook hammer, a factory letter would likely reveal if it was shipped that way or upgraded later if you are interested to know, if u can post a picture of the box end label and grease pencil writing on the bottom they might solve the mystery as well.

.22 Combat Masterpiece serial number K169502 shipped in February, 1953. That is only 240 numbers off from yours.

I believe it is unlikely those target stocks came with that gun. Possible, but unlikely. That said, they are worth a few dollars as mentioned above.

Starting in the 1950s those stocks were sold through hardware and sporting goods stores, so certainly possible to put them on post-factory. The revolver with target stocks did not fit in the gold boxes of the day, as they were too long and wide, so it is suggested that many were ordered or sold separate from the factory order, hence one can only find serial numbers on a very few examples. That revolver would have been manufactured in 1953, so likely would have been sold and shipped that same year.

Thats a very fair price IMHO for that gun. I'd buy it in a minute for that price and I have two already.

Does the barrel flat have a serial number and if so does it match the heel and cylinder serial number ?

Yes it does and it matches. The box has a handwritten serial number faint after 70 some years but it matches.

Please keep the original grips on it. Apparently I’m the only one that thinks target grips look to big on a K frame. Especially a 4” K frame. Congrats on finding a beauty.
