Is there any difference between a 70's era Model 10, 14 or 15 cylinder? Book says they are all 1.56" long...............

Any differences or are they the same part (including the ejector)?

Thanks!

The 1970's era K-frame M10, M14, and M15 cylinders should be identical.

It was the K-frame magnum cylinders that underwent engineering changes from recessed chambers to non-recessed chambers, and relocation of the gas ring from crane to cylinder.

Along with the cylinder the yoke would also be physically different based on the gas ring location.
Gas ring from yoke to cylinder was also for .38 Spl S&W

Ref: Std. Catalog of S&W 3rd Ed.
1977 seems to be the year Smith & Wesson moved the Gas Ring from Yoke to Cylinder for K Frame .38 Spl & .357 Magnum:

10 (1977) Taper
10 (1977) HB
14 (1977)
15 (1977)
* K-Frame Model(s) 64, 19, 66, all show the same year, 1977, gas ring change.

* No credit on my part for this pic. Couldn't find the thread I saved this from. Thank you to the member that posted this.

The gas ring has nothing to do with Model number. It affected, I believe, all, and only, K-Frame models.

The gas ring was moved from the cylinder to the yoke sometime in 1974, and when that didn't work out too well it was moved back to the cylinder in 1977. Didn't last very long. The first move, to the yoke, was not identified by a dash number.
