There's something about K frames, even the 'regular ones'.

In January, just as I told myself I'd be laying off the purchases for a bit, I find an ad for a 10-5 snub. I contacted the seller, made arrangements for a PPT and eventually brought it home. Sure, it has honest wear, but she compliments my beloved 64-2:

A local shop had set aside a Model 67 no-dash awhile back for me…so a few weeks later I figured it was time to fork over the money and bring it home too:

And a few weeks ago, the same shop got some consignments in; I asked them to put this aside for me (Wife recommended getting it after we get back from our upcoming trip):

And of course I find a 6" 10-5 locally but know I definitely need to lay off it…

K's are great

I get it. I like them too. There are so many and they are all fun to shoot and collect. A 17 is in my future too. Life is short, be responsible, but have fun too.

I'm sure someone will tell you a good way to limit your purchases of K frames is to choose a niche, adjustable sights, pre- numbered models, nickel plated, etc. That sounds good, but it doesn't necessarily work that way. Say you choose short barreled models, 3 inch and under. Well, you have pre-numbered M&P models and Mod 10's and 64's in round and square butt 2 and 3 inch , Mod 13's and 65's in 3 inch. And of course Mod 19's and 66's in 2 1/2 inch and 3inch. Oh, I almost forgot, 2 inch Mod 15's. Oh shoot, then there are the Mod 12's square and round butt 2inch. And if you really want to dig deep, 2 1/2 inch Mod 10's and I believe the Mod 12 in 3 inch for the French police. Which reminds me of the Mod 547 in 3 inch. Ok, I'm making myself dizzy, but as you see, it is easy to get buried in those wonderful K frames, don't ask me how I know. . .

My only K's have been my very first handgun - an exLEO worn 19 back in the 70's; and a mint Model 10 from a rummage sale a couple years later. Both long gone.

STOP! Make it go away.

I DON'T NEED another "N" frame,,,
I DON'T NEED another "L" frame,,,
I DON'T NEED another "K" frame,,,
I DON'T NEED another "J" frame,,,,
BUT,,, just when you think you've scratched all the itches,,,,

I have one saving grace. I do not like J frames, so they do not get me. Non more L frames, and maybe 4 K frames. N frames get me bad though:eek:

I thought the same thing yesterday…and then I decided to drop by the shop and start the DROS on the pre-17 so I can pick it after my trip.

I NEED a model 14 next.

Shotguns are my other itch that keeps on itching…along with leverguns…

really,,,, we can quit anytime

Hard to beat the lines and handling characteristics of a K frame. Can't wait to receive my new 65-5 LS that I recently acquired in a trade with a friend and fellow forum member.
