I'm in serious need of a pocket holster for my 640 and 642. After looking at several designs I've about settled on the Kramer Pocket Holster.

They're twice the price of most pocket holster, but are they worth the extra?

Has anyone used one before?

For jeans, uniform pants, cargo pocket of uniform pants? For some applications they are the bees knees and worth every penny. For others, not so much.

I have a 340PD that I keep in a Kramer. Nice stiff pocket holster, but as doc84 alludes, it's a slightly oversized package and, for example, if I put it in a back pocket of dress pants (and I work in a profession where I have to be more dressed-up than the average guy) the grip/stock of the gun will protrude, which defeats the 'concealed' part of CCW unless you are wearing a jacket or coat which covers it. It'll fit in a front pocket okay.

Ok Mr. Rider. It is incredibly well made. All of Kramer Leather products are built to last. It will fit fine in the 5.11s provided you carry in the front pocket and not the cargo pocket. For the cargo pocket the galco horsehide pocket holster is much better. Keeps the gun upright. The Kramer should work in the dress pants. Remember that the outward facing part of the Kramer is plastic vs leather. The downside of the Kramer is the fact that it is side specific. On duty, it rides in my left pocket. Off duty, if in an NPE and forced by circumstances to only carry the J frame, it rides in the right. The galco, the cut down version offered by Bell Charter Oak and my personal $19 favorite from CSM Gear are all able to be used right or left.

Hope these suggestions help Brother.

Kramer makes great holsters, but my go to for pocket carry of a J frame is a Bob Mika. Buy two, one square bottom and one round.

While I am a huge fan of Kramer Horsehide, IMHO the best Pocket Holster is the DeSantis Nemesis. Very light, very comfortable and sticks to the inside of your pocket so when you draw Roscoe the holster stays out. It's also only a bit over $20 bucks!
