Larger Caliber CCW

Given current situation in US, have you "upsized" your CCW caliber? Example, I have gone from a .38 SPL snub revolver to a .40 caliber sub compact for daily CCW. I'm currently considering carrying a .45 caliber pistol because, as I get older, I have realized I don't want to have any physical altercations with anybody and my thinking is, God forbid, I need to defend myself I want to have a larger caliber pistol, increasing my odds of defending myself better. I know the trade-offs are weight vs concealability etc. but want to make sure in the event of a situation I can get out safely!

My .02 is whatever you can shoot consistently well as shot placement sometimes gets “lost” in caliber discussions.

Agreed but for me I travel several states around my home state and often am in areas less desirable than I like.
Last night in INDY a shooting occurred outside a restaurant, and it got me thinking

I upgraded from .38 +P to .32 H&R Magnum.

As I see it caliber wars are basically pointless as handguns are cordless hole punchers and as our esteemed former Yankee govt employee from flyover country has often said "even a lowly .22 will make that feller quickly decide there's some place else he needs to be".

I haven't carried since December as my only destinations are medical facilities yet here I am unassailed and unperforated.

Those were my thoughts exactly! My Shield 45 does carry as well or better than most of my "lesser caliber" options. And it's darn accurate too! Sometimes I even opt to carry a second magazine.
