I have found out through sources that Smith is going to be releasing a .45 shield within the next couple of months. I cant give any specs on it.

So is this forum affiliated with Smith and Wesson? I wouldn't mind leaked info if I were the company. I know if I had known that, I wouldn't have ordered a XDS 45, but would have waited on the Shield.

id probably need one of them. only makes sense for smith to add one to their line. I would think adding a .380 to the shield line would be a good one too. with the glock 42 coming out it there would be a market spot to compete. the bodyguard .380 i had was too small a frame and needed more weight.

Well, they have the Bodyguard in .380 already. I'm curious what the price comparison between the Shield 45 and the XDs will be. I remember when the first XDs in .45 was being talked about before it's premiere and the initially pitched price was in the neighborhood of $460-ish, if I recall correctly. We saw the price balloon to $100+ higher than that initial one. I know, the whole "supply and demand" thing, but I would like to see some truth-in-pricing stuff when it comes to this Shield, because if it has a price comparable to the current Shields, I'll own one too.

A Shield .45 would be a handful in my opinion. My .40 is already a handful.

I'd have to agree with that but IF they do come out with a .45 I'll be in line. But this time I'll wait until they come down in price. I didn't pay over MSRP for my 9 like so many did but I did pay MSRP. I don't regret it one bit though.
