First deer I ever took with a handgun.About 13 years ago.Killed a doe with the same gun a couple years later.Carrying a rifle most of the time now but the 629 still makes it out a couple of times a season.
Took a spike last week with this 629-4 . Win 240gr JSP @ 45 yards.
Donated the meat to the Foodbank.

Neither of these revolvers have shot at a deer as I usually have a long gun with me as well. I guess I need to commit to a handgun only hunt.

This is my old reliable 29-2 that has taken several deer with my hand load of 10 grains Unique under a 250 gr. hard cast Keith style bullet. I have never recovered a bullet in a game animal, it completely penetrated. I gave this gun to my son when he graduated from the police academy (his choice of all I offered to him) and bought the following 29-2 replacement:
I have carried this one deer season, but missed what should have been an easy shot that I can only blame on the shooter. Could not hunt this year due to other obligations.

The Redhawk has bagged numerous deer especially after I loaned it to a friend
who is a much better hunter than I am.
I have carried the Dan Wesson but never actually connected with anything.
Both are carried in an old HUSH system.
I just got an Encore and once I break it (and myself) in, I would consider taking it afield.
I prefer bird hunting though.

Muleys are the most majestic of the North American deer, IMO. Technically every thing from the tiny Coues to Moose are deer.
I don't hunt whitetails any more, but If I had the chance to hunt muleys in a really good place, I'd be on it like flies to manure. Of course, I'd have to get in a whole lot better shape

I like your taste in grips. I have been eyeing the Ahrends Retro Targets sans finger grooves for a while now. They will be the next grips I get for my 629.
How is the Chesty Puller rig for getting on and off? I watched the video of the Guides Choice on Diamond D's website and it looks very easy to adjust and get on and off. It seems to me that the Chesty Puller and the Guides Choice are the most economical choices for chest holsters.
Oh, and I guess I should show my revolver that I hope to bag a deer with this year. A S&W 629-6 5" Classic.

4X28, straight 4 power X 28mm objective, not 4-28.
example....... 3-9X40 = 3 thru 9 power with a 40mm objective.
