was wondering if anyone could help. i have a sw9m. it will only fire about every 3-5 times you pull the trigger. looking at the primers you can see small dents. i love the size and acuracy of this little 9 but i want it to go bang every time i pull the trigger. also, i lost the striker while working on it. i looked at brownells but cant seem to find one anywere. any help with either of these would be much apreciated. Thank you!

When my SW40F had light primer hits, I called S&W. They told me to send it to them. They cleaned it, repaired whatever was broken, and sent it back. It works fine now.

Call S&W.

There is a parts lot on Gunbroker for that pistol. Be aware that if you send that pistol back to S&W, they will keep it - they literally want them off the streets. You will get a new full size Sigma to replace it. I'm speaking from experience.

I had one a while back that had the same light strike problem
for me it cleared up after a thorough cleaning
YMMV

i tried 3 different brands of ammo, i cleaned it super clean, and if i could get a new full size sigma for it from s@w i might just send it to them. (is this true?) i bought the gun from a freind at work, i tried to fix it but couldnt figure out the problem. i had it apart at the gun range and it started to storm so i put it all in the bag and went home. a month later i opened the bag and couldnt find the damb striker(fell out a tear in the bottom of the bag.) thank you all for your help! its much apreciated.

Had some light strikes and jams when knew. Sent it back, they polished the ramp, opened the throat, smoothed out the trigger (a little) and replaced the recoil rod and spring. About 1600 rounds later without a malf it's a keeper!

yup

just sent mine in and it needed a new trigger bar. cheap part easy fix. i could have done it myself. on the phone they will tell you if they can't fix it they will work out a deal for something else. they will never try to fix it so there is zero chance you will get it back if you send it to s&w. i'll miss that little pistol but i'm happy with the full sized sigma too.

what kind of deal? do you have to pay extra? i found a parts lot someone told me about and might just buy that and replace the parts i need. so if i send it to s@w and they say they cant fix it can i ask them to just send it back? im so comfused, i just want this one fixed or something comparably small and comfortable. but i dont want to pay an arm and a leg for it, actually i dont want to pay more than the price of a new striker (and maby the trigger bar :)

they won't send it back to you. they will send you a new full sized sigma free of charge. maybe you can can talk them into a discount on another s&w product. you can still buy most of the parts for the s&w9m. that's what i wish i had done. again once you send it in kiss it good buy. a nib sigma or a discount for another s&w is a very good deal as trade for the subcompact sigmas since they are at best $200 pistols. on the other hand there is nothing in the subcompact sigmas size class for anywhere near $200.

if you end up keeping the s&w9m i'll cut you a good deal on a spare magazine i have no use for anymore.

Well, with heavy heart i sent it to smith and wesson today. i really do wish they would make a sub compact double action singlestack smoothbody nine again. im sure i will like the full size sigma, just really didnt need another full size handgun. depending on what they say i may try to work out a deal for a compact m@p. thank you all for your help, information and advice. i hope i can return the favor sometime. BB

im going to be recieving a brand new 908s in the mail for free from S@W, single stack 9mm, not much bigger than the sw9m was but with better sights and the ability to be carried cocked and locked or double action. i think i will be happy with it!! thank you all again for swinging me in the right direction!

This will be a Good Thing, just give it time!

...and the ability to be carried cocked and locked or double action.
Um, I think this has a decocker/safety action. You can leave the decocker lever ON or OFF after you decock the gun, but I don't think you can do "cocked and locked."

I think it can be converted to DAO action that also removes the decock/safety lever, making it act a lot more like your late Sigma. I don't know how much that might cost, but I think it is a matter of swapping factory parts.

...I think I will be happy with it!!
I think you will be too!

i had the same thought, i was just wondering how many you could do before they figured it out. and jim, maby the guy on the line was mistaken but thats what he told me about cocked and locked(he even said "like your 1911" maby he was mistaken. hope not but ill be happy either way. read the reviews on the 908s and they are quite favorable. cant wait to get it. anybody have a sw9m for sale on the cheap..... :)

well my 908 showed up today. jim you were right, it cant be cocked and locked. but the da trigger pull is really smooth. the gun feels great in my hand and points really natural to me. small enough to carry well yet big enough to shoot well. now i cant wait to go shoot it......a lot!

I took the 908 out and shot 200 rounds threw it. no malfuntions and at 20 yards i could keep all my rounds inside 4-5 inches easy and if i really try, about half that. i am seriously impressed with how well this gun felt and shot. im still a 45 fan but i dont have any reservations that this gun and some 124 grain golden sabers will work wonders as a carry peice.
