Liquor Store Clerks Shoot Armed Robber (Video)

What people who have never been in a shooting don't realize is that you experience an Adrenaline rush into your blood stream. This is the classic experience of "Fight or flight".
The effects of the Adrenaline rush is that it alters your audio and visual perception but even more critical is that it's diminishes your fine motor skills which effect your trigger pulls and you end up working off of muscle memory thus jerking the trigger.
Thus your accuracy is no where near the same as shooting a paper target. Hunters often experience a similar but less stressful form of this known as "buck fever". It's worse when your fighting for your life.
These ladies are the salt of the earth.

Someday soon, this is exactly how the criminal class will be eliminated.

I am impressed! Way to stand your ground ladies! No snowflakes there! I'd like to shake their hands...

Definitely much more affective than our current system, especially with CA's jacked up "catch and release" laws.

It was on LivePD last night (guilty pleasure). Clerks are mother and daughter. I think they mostly got lucky, there wasn't a ton of skill involved. But, protip: most civilian defensive shootings don't really require a ton of masterful gun handling or marksmanship.

As a cop and police firearms instructor, I can say the average cop is a mediocre shot at best. I've seen instances where cops didn't perform much better. There's a huge difference between training and when the stuff hits the fan. Look at the deputy(s) in Florida. Betcha those gals would have run toward the shooter and not sought cover behind a patrol car.

You can clearly see the older woman using a snub-nosed REVOLVER to shoot the perp.

This is more proof that revolvers are NOT obsolete for defensive purposes. Also the recent security guard who shot two perps in the convenience store have a revolver as well.

If the first 2-3 shots don't have an effect, aim for the head.
Those ladies are very lucky.
So was the perp.

I'm not going to Monday morning quarterback those two gutsy women, and I'm not going to criticize their armament (I bet they are already upgrading).

I just hope they rethink the layout of their store, do a little re design so someone can't walk up on them behind the counter like that guy did.

I've never thought they were.

I carry one every day.

Wow.... wow, wow, wow.

Those ladies are lucky to be alive. This is a clear example of why you continue shooting until the threat has stopped. I can perfectly understand the desire or will not to want to kill someone but in this case the women should have kept on firing. The bad guy wrestled the gun from the older lady, at that point the daughter should have just emptied her gun on him. He was trying to kill them.

Bravo to this mother daughter team. Aside with caliber debate, does anybody know if the ladies had their guns confiscated by police or did the police and DA consider this a justified shoot (which it was obviously) they were able to keep their firearms or are these gutsy women defending their lives and property are going to be ground down by the legal system?

I'm impressed. I have never been in a situation like that, so have no idea if I could have performed as well. Those two gals, mother and daughter, fought back, incapacitated the BG, and survived.

Impressive.

Armchair quarterbacking, video commando, what I see is the daughter, when her mom was struggling with the BG, should have moved in close, put her little 380 or whatever it was against the back of the BG's head, and pulled the trigger.

But I am just some guy on the internet. Those two gals were there, in the moment.

That looked like it hurt! Armed robbery is not a good profession. I probably would have kept firing as long as the crook was mobile and the gun had bullets in it.

A handgun is no match for a sawed off shotgun at that range and a lot of macho guys know that and probably would have submitted to the robber without putting up a fight. The women probably didn't know that and fought back and succeeded. The bandit was not shy about trying to shoot them once he got the mothers .38 but luckily it was out of ammo.

It looked like the robber lost track of his shotgun. That was a good thing. Hopefully merely possessing that sawed off shotgun, not to mention using in the commission of a violent felony, will get the robber ten years or so in a federal pen.

Wasn't there a line from the TV series Justified about "a life of crime is hard" or something like that. Seems to fit for this guy.

Another big advantage to a five shot revolver:

It runs out of ammo sooner so when you haven't stopped the BG he can only pistol whip you with the gun rather than shoot you when he takes it away.

Thanks moosedog for putting things in perspective.

ONE DETERMINED BAD GUY,

2 More determined clerks. THEY SURVIVED against a sawed off, so it's kinda hard to find fault. From the armchair: if the daughter had a more powerful caliber, the Mother may very well have been hit by a pass thru. The daughter may have had the opportunity to unload into the guy as well. Who designed the door trap, Rube Goldberg?
