Liquor Store Clerks Shoot Armed Robber (Video)

I think another idea to consider when watching this video is where to keep a defensive weapon: under the counter or on your body?

I personally think on your body is best. (I'm not posting this to second guess the clerks' decisions, but for people to consider what is best for themselves.)

The ladies did a GREAT job there.....

Since they are obviously proficient with firearms they should get something a little heavier with more rounds.

With drugs, desperation and such these days, not to mention sheer stupidity it's very likely that a perp wouldn't even feel the first few shots.

I commend the mother/daughter team for putting up a good fight against a BG that was probably as high as the sky. If on drugs both women would of had to fire 10 well placed 38/380 rounds to take him down. This reinforces my decision to always have a backup magazine or spare ammo for low capacity weapons.

I think the ladies somehow remotely locked the front door to prevent his escape. When he comes back the first time, he appears to be pleading and pointing at the door. Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but if they had not locked the door he probably would have fled and the most dangerous parts of the encounter would have been avoided. I admit this is speculation supported by hindsight. I wasn't there.

You called it. This news story shows video of him in the double door system they hoped would trap him.

I agree with the second part of that sentence, but after watching the video several times, I'm not sure they're all that proficient. The robber's just on the other side of the counter, and even when he's struggling with the mother, he doesn't look to be more than 10-12 feet away.

That's another thing. That was a bad choice the daughter made, shooting at the guy while he's struggling with the mother. When I first watched it, I actually cringed when she did that.

One the things this video shows is that the one-shot stop is a myth.

This goes back to my comment above. I don't think the ladies are all that skilled in the use of firearms.

The one-shot stop...not a myth, but in my opinion depends on the caliber and the shooter. If one of 'em had been shooting a .45 with the right ammo, and was any kind of a good shot, they wouldn't have had to fool with locking the door...cause he'd have never got that far.

Some of y'all may remember this incident from just over a year ago from down in Georgia.

Large caliber + skilled shooter = One-Shot-Stop. It's a simple concept, a proven theory.

Overall, I'd say that robbing a gun shop is generally more risky than robbing convenience store.

the difference in what looked like a 38 and a little auto the women used and the 1911 the gun store man used. difference as in night and day. the 45 is king in handgun self defense,,,,,,,,

On another note:

The BG apparently found a use for a Mossberg Cruiser or some such (maybe home modified) shotgun.

Didn't seem to reduce these ladies to quivering, compliant victims.

Personally, I'm not buying the stronger caliber argument. Guy's just lucky....

...he didn't get shot in the right place.

Well, maybe proficient in handling.....

....but they got off more than a few shots and some of them actually hit the guy, somewhere. So, they can handle their guns. They just need target practice BAD!:D

Hey let's be nice here guys. It's easy to be a critic when you're watching on you tube but these ladies walked the walk. There's lessons for all to learn for sure but Don't be an armchair quarterback. I've seen guys **** their pants way worse at an idpa shoot. These ladies survived and that's what's important.

Like they say, "Hindsight is 20/20." We can probably all give advice on what those women could've, should've, or would've done. The bottom line is that when "push came to shove," those two gals were able to stand their ground and fight back.

Could shot placement have been better? Yep, but when adrenaline starts surging through the ol' system, it's not the easiest thing in the world to group your shots.

Two tough little ladies, in my opinion. Just glad they weren't hurt.
