Local newspaper posts permit Holders name and addresses

Criminals will need to make an appointment to break in and steal these folks gun now. Need to steal a firearm? Heres a list of where they are.

You may also want to be so kind as to post a note as to where the keys for the home are so there will be no broken glass from a break in. This will prevent injuries form glass shards left on the ground & help protect your neighbors from further injuries. As a post note it would be nice to leave some band-aids by the door just in case the perp cuts himself that is if the key was already taken from the first robbery attempt.

Not to mention the fact that they have possibly set the stage for violent confrontations and innocent homeowners being killed or injured protecting themselves from intruders trying to take those guns that are legally owned.Or on the other hand innocent homeowners that have not elected to arm themselves falling prey to the low lifes that are just after anything of value and are rolling the dice that this particular household is unarmed. What a pinnacle of responsible journalism this is.Oh I forgot you can't use "Responsible" and "Journalism" in the same sentence in this instance.Anyone employed with this newspaper that had anything to do with allowing this travesty needs to be named a co-defendant in any crime resulting from this total lack of common sense and intelligence.

a new low for rag news papers

"The Journal News", a down state NY news paper has published an interactive map showing the names and addresses of concealed carry permit holders in Westchester and Rockland Counties of NY.

They sited the CT school shooting as a reason for residents to have the right to know who and where guns are located in their neighborhoods. The information was given them through the freedom of information act.

This is perhaps the most contemptuous thing I've seen in years and represents a new low in "journalism". It endangers both those who have guns as well as those who don't. The irresponsibility shown by this rag should be condemned by everyone, not just pro-gun advocates. Now anyone can just click on a map and see the name and address of anyone with a CCP. As an unintended consequence (I assume) the reader can also ascertain those who don't have a carry permit holder in their household. S-T-U-P-I-D!

I wonder why they don't publish the names and addresses of anyone convicted of violent crimes? I wonder why they don't advocate for the release and publication of anyone being treated for mental illness under the guise of public safety. So where is the interactive listing of all gang-bangers, drug addicts, wife and child beaters, or illegal aliens? How about a listing of kids who have gone through the juvie system? It seems to me that any and all of those lists would greatly service public safety.
And certainly trumps their individual rights.

I don't personally care who knows I conceal carry. I am however appalled that we, as a law-abiding group, are singled out as somehow responsible for the tragedy in CT or a part of the politically invented "gun problem". You know, real bad guys. The Journal News has only perpetuated and enhanced the left's full on assault on our 2nd amendment rights as well as our right to privacy.

Ugh, this reminds me when The Associated Press was trying to get the Illinois FOID card holder list (these are just registered gun owners; not C&C since our state doesn't have it). That was quite an uproar.

This happened in the south somewhere and the locals took out an add showing where the employees of the newspaper lived.

The names and addresses of local politicians and the paper's editor/publisher should be published as well. Then the concept of objective transparency would be fair.

They could charge home invaders a subscription fee to their "service".

Spiro Agnew once said that "crime will not decrease until it becomes more dangerous to be a criminal than it is to be a victim."

We had the same problem in Oregon and the legislature finally passed a privacy bill to protect the names and addresses of folks with permits to carry.

But the same thing did happen in one of our cities and a gun group published the names and address of the newspaper owners and the one who wrote the article.

I could readily see a lawsuit for endangerment brewing, and charges by the local PD for aiding and abetting in the event burglaries spike at these houses.

Hey guys, after y'all were nice enough to identify my grandfathers 1909 Model 2 .22 on this forum, the least I could do was expose this lady and her crew. Merry Christmas to all and especially to Journal-News anti-gun nut and publisher, Janet Hasson.

Mind boggling how the media has fallen. Perhaps we need a list of celebrities n politicians who have armed security or send their kids to guarded schools
