Love my M&P 9C.

After buying a new Glock GEN3 G19 to keep from going through all the problems with the GEN4 G19 about a year ago. Having them replace 4 different guns after none of them could be made to stop pelting me about the head and face with brass. FTE and on and on 3 weeks ago I traded the last one for an M&P 9C.
I have been looking for one without the external safety and magazine sisconnect for months. None to be found until I spotted one at a gunshow 3 weeks ago. Traded for a GEN4 G19 that was hand selected and they promised would work. It did for 800 rounds. Didn't say all this to just complain. The little M&P has been a gem!
At about 500 rounds now. In the first 3 mags had a couple of failures to extract. Then it smoothed out and has been good to go since. It's become my hot weather EDC. Very accurate. Trigger was gritty at first but like most smoothed out after a couple hundred rounds. I might like the gun's trigger to be a little lighter pull weight. But I shoot it well and don't know if I should bother.
So the M&P and a Walther PPQ that now has 3700 rounds through it have been a welcome relief from the "Glock Blues". I still have some older Glocks that work fine and I will keep. But I wouldn't touch one of the new ones. So does the APEX trigger really improve the gun that much? What's it like to install?

I hear ya I was speaking with another gun friend today, an avid G26 carrier. He has a M&9PFS on hold after handling one. He said that in all of the years of owning, he has never had a gun *point* so naturally for him. His G26 will be sold very soon, and he has decided to take a look at the Shield later today. I wouldn't be surprised one bit that one will be following him home too.

Congrats! I picked up my M&P9c about 2 weeks ago and I cannot get over how much I love that little gun. It is also my spring/summer EDC and also one of my favorites to take to the range, something that I couldn't say about my G26 that I traded in for my 9c. That was M&P #3 and I added M&P #4 last week...they do tend to multiply!

I'm actually a big fan of the stock M&P triggers, i know they can be made to be better but I'm just not a fan of changing things from stock...I just don't have the luck to have everything go correctly when I do make the change! Keep shooting that puppy and I think you'll eventually feel the same way. I will also say that the aftermarket grip extension for the M&P9c is nice, too. It is a tad long so it takes a bit of extra force to get it to seat, but once you do it feels great and lets you use the 17-round full-size M&P9 magazines.

I just love the way my 9c fits in my hand. Mine came with a really good stock trigger. I kept hearing they needed APEX parts but they either have improved the triggers recently or the negative comments about the trigger are overblown.

I also love my 9c, its the best all round gun I've owned.
And I think the gossip about how horrible the stock triggers are is overblown and exaggerated. My trigger has been great from Tue get go, and broke cleanly at 6.5 love right away...can't ask for nothing more than advertised...
I think the apex parts are overated imo...
Although I'm sure they work, but if it ain't broke.........

I have had my 9c for about 2 months and have had no problem with my trigger at all, I picked up a 45c a little over a month ago and I really have to break that trigger in because it is a little gritty and causes me to hit low left.

I agree, I polished my sear/striker contact, and the trigger ARM/sear points and my trigger is much better.....fine enough for me, and saves me money for ammo and such instead of the apex stuff....

Can't wait to get my hands on a shield. I know, in time they will come around.

I would. With the poor extractors that glock is putting in all their guns now a days, I would trade it. Thats just me though. My 9mm glocks were fine until around 800 rounds each then it was terrible and replacing parts was only a temp fix. Seems like with the help of apex m&p is something for the long haul.

The Apex hard sear and striker block were the ticket for my 9C. Well worth the money. Wish my 45C had the same trigger pull.

I would trade the GEN4 G19 simply because after literally having them work on 4 different guns (two late model GEN3's, two GEN4's), me trying all the fixes I read about on line, nothing would keep them running right. As I said the two late model GEN3's were bad right out of the box. The first one actually crushed brass it's ejection was so bad. They rebuilt it and after 500 rounds the same thing. Next they sent me a GEN4 G19. It was good for 2000 rounds.
They took the gun and wrked on it. They said they fired 100 rounds through it and it was fine. Oh yeah they said it was fine but admitted the gun ejected rounds to the left and forward! I said that's what I sent it in for. So they sent me another gun. The instead of returning a GEN4 G19 to me they sent a GEN3 G19 by mistake. They argued with me that I had asked for one until read the letter off I sent them. They said to just try the gun. I did. It was hitting me in the head from round one. By this time I had spoken with the local Glock Rep., a V.P at Glock, and the head of the warranty department. The head of the warranty department said he hand picked me a gun and promised it would work. Said he fired 130 rounds through it and it was flawless. It was until 800 rounds.
I found am M&P9C and traded it even up for the G19. I wrote a letter to Mr. Murphy at Glock saying I appreciated his help but the gun might not work out of the box, might go 500, 800, or even 2000 before it went back to it's old problems. I simply didn't trust my life to the platform anymore. Told him i traded it for an M&P.
I say all this to the poster asking if he should keep his G19 or not. I can't make that decision for you. But on several forums the guns didn't fail until several thousand rounds through them. So when do you feel safe the gun is good to go? I can't trust it after my experiences with the gun. Your call. But once trust is lost in a gun it's basically no good to me. And if Glock couldn't get 4 different guns to work I don't think it is just one problem. And since they are so willing to replace the guns it must be simpler just to replace rather than try to fix it. Doesn't suggest good things to me.
The PPQ is a wonderful weapon. It has the best trigger and superb ergo's. It is very accurate. And I mean very accurate. Never failed me. I have nothing but good things to say about it. But both my M&P and my PPQ are not getting sold. Both are excellent platforms.

Yeah I'm in the same situation. Had it worked on by a Glocksmith already. He avoided sending it back because he "knew how to fix it" and polished the extractor and the ejector. That didn't work so he blamed it on the ammo I was shooting (WWB) so I put 100 rounds of the Winchester PDX1 through it...same problems. Then he told me it's because I'm limpwristing it. I never professed I'm an expert marksman, but when I've made it through the military without being critiqued for it and never experienced this type of problem with any of my other personal firearms I doubt I'm shooting it improperly.
The Glock has been sitting in the closet for a couple months now, and I feel like it's wasting space when I can possibly get something reliable instead. I just don't want to end up paying money to trade it. I'll make a trip to the LGS this weekend, but I've never tried selling a gun back before and I"m worried they'll try to rip me off.

The M&P9c was my 2'nd out of 5 M&Ps and still my favorite. But after handling the new Shield at the NRA convention I had to have one. The Shield should be here tomorrow and I'm looking forward to shooting them side by side. Then the Shield will be sent to Robar for their NP3 finish, which makes a great M&P even better. The Shield being slimmer I think will be ideal for warm weather concealed carry. But when the weather cools to jacket temperature the M&P9c with it's 12 rounds will be my carry gun. Smith & Wesson has done well with the M&P line and it's good to see them further developing the platform. If I could own only one M&P it would still be the 9c.

Flawless performance! Great to carry - anxious for 3rd, 4th, 5th...... trips!!

I have 2 Glocks a gen 3 19 and 32c both have had feed issues, my MP9c has never had a failure to feed in 3 years of shooting and chews up and spits out any kind of ammo I have put in it, its a great little gun.

I have a G23 and have had no trouble with it. My carry weapon was a KelTec P11. Size was fine, but the trigger was a little tough. I know in most defense situations (distance) its probably ok. However wanted a better trigger. So I went shopping and couldn't find the couple I might be interested in.

Finally found this used (1 yr old) 9c. LGS said a local LEO had the weapon and it had a Apex trigger, night sights, one extra 17rd mag. So I bought it.

Boy what a difference in triggers between the P11 and 9c. I'm still trying to get use to it. No accidents, but I'm always mindful of the difference.

So I joined the forum last night. And I'm still reading

I enjoy my 9c more every time I use it. It is my wife's favorite to shoot and I taught my son gun safety and shooting on it. I tickled the sear, striker and trigger innards and it performs flawlessly. I'm trying to find a compact 9 for my wife and have explored them all. I really can't find anything better regardless of dollars than the M&P9c. Kudos to S&W.

I picked up my 9c yesterday. It feels great in my hand. Better than my fs9 even. I'm really looking forward to getting to the range to see what it'll do for me. With all of the fine reports here on the 9c, I have no reason to believe I won't be 100% happy and satisfied. I'll let you know.
