I stopped by one of my local Walmarts this morning and they had Federal AutoMatch in the 325 round boxes for $21.16 per box. Not wanting to be greedy I bought 2 boxes. I haven't seen any price that low around here anywhere. I'll go by there and pick up a couple more boxes in the next couple of days. Best price I've seen online for it was about $40.00 per box.:)

A friend that lives in NW Pa. gets them for that in his area. Here in this section of Florida the Wally Worlds have stopped carrying ammo, and almost anything gun related.

No ammo in Wal-Mart here in NE PA but I have so much 22 ammo I won't need to buy for a long time. I put a lot away before the craziness hit.

Have been seeing the Winchester Super-X 22lr bulk in the anniversary historical yellow box and occasionally the Federal Auto Match. Seems the Federal sells faster than the Winchester. I prefer it.

The Winchester was a lot more expensive, $40.00 plus, and I know how well the Federals shoot in my Victory so I bought them instead. Heading back to that Walmart tomorrow to buy 2 or 3 more boxes if they still have it.

I was at the local Wal Mart today and all they had for 22 ammo was the Winchester Super X in the yellow box at $40/box

I'm in central FL for the month and the Walmart here has just the he,low box Winchester noted by GSP above for $40.78. They still have rifles and shotguns but that was the ONLY ammo they had - no shotgun shells or anything.

You never know how it will perform until you try it. That bulk stuff is not highly regarded around here. Wally had a 2 box limit. When I first saw it I bought a box and went to the range the next day, with several of my 22 semi autos.

It performed flawlessly and accuracy was better than me with my arthritis and old eyes.

Its snowy around here and not good for traveling. The next day it was sunny and the roads were clear. I had nothing to do.

So, I took a drive, had lunch out, and stopped at the 6 Wallys in the area. One didn't have a limit, or so the nice lady said.

My ammo locker is now stocked with 15 bricks of the cheap stuff. Color me happy.

I try to stay out of Wally but when I do have to go there I'll pick up my limit if they have any 22's. The Federal has been running $21 around my area too.

I used to pick up 5 or 6 boxes of the 36 grain 550 round Federal in the red box every time I got a social security check. I wound up with a closet full and have been thankful during the shortage. I plan to keep up the buying for the next shortage.

I did the same with powder, primers and bullets and I'm still buying and preparing for the next shortage because it's coming.

I want to stock up as long as it's available at that price. I bought my granddaughter a Victory 22 for her 21st birthday and I want to take her to my gun club's range and let her shoot as often as she wants. My wife loves to shoot too so I'll take her with me too.

The NEXT shortage??? LOL.

The current one hasn't ended yet....

Pre-COVID, that same box sold for $15 at WM. A $6 price jump doesn't seem that bad compared to $5/lb hamburger and $3+ gasoline.

Where do you find $3.00/gal. gasoline? It was $5.15/gal. for premium at my closest station. $4.68 at Costco.

Best regards,

I'm no ammo snob but I started using up one of those boxes of Fed Auto Match today and had a lot of squibs. Hope they aren't all like that.

Oh, to live where civilized WalMarts sell ammunition. WalMarts in suburban Houston, TEXAS, haven't sold ammunition in years while WalMarts in small, more rural Texas communities do a land office business in ammunition when they can get it. Sad. The WalMart nearest my neighborhood has security towers in the parking lot, security guards at the door and a ton of customers. It looks like the street scene in Blade Runner.

Wait … Duds or squibs?

If I had to manually clear more than ONE projectile from my barrel, I'd immediately stop shooting from that box.

I have been shooting them lately thru my 18-3 and they extract normally, though I did scrub my chambers some months before I found them at that price point.
