Well at least the guy was advancing on the enemy. His only failure was not using cover. The critter had a big mouth. The idea would be to let him chew on steel cars while you reload. Yes, aimed fire is preferable. I particularly like the NYPD's training where they teach you to push your shots when you're going to fire. Thrusting your arm forward adds velocity to the bullet.

I think the clip might have been edited as there sounds like five shots from the revolver, but you can barely detect one because it's coming in muffled right after the "ricochet" shot, yet still maintains the lengthy, low rumble of the pistol cartridge.

After continuous scrutiny it has been determined that the ricochet shot is indeed a separate, high power, rifle shot from the grassy knoll that's just out of view.

There ARE only five shots, I have the original movie. The clip IS edited. There is a point after the cop is picked up that it shows an old woman screaming down on the sidewalk at the sight and then it flips back to seeing the cop in creature's mouth.

BTW, pardon me, laser POINTER, not laser scope as somebody noted.

I guess back then, NYHPD policy was to load 5 and leave the 6th chamber over the hammer empty

That gun looks like a pre-M-10 as I can definately see a halfmoon sight on the barrel

For all you revolver enthusiasts that think that the revolver is as good or even better than the Semi Automatic, you need to get with the program. If this NYPD cop had had Glock .40S&W with three high capacity magazines with night sights, laser scope he would have survived this shooting to tell the story today instead of having to have it demonstrated on this news footage: YouTube - The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms Vore (warning: this is a horrible death)

Now that is laugh out loud funny! I always wondered where these NYPD "on the job" guys learned their shooting skills - no cover, no sights, hum. I think they still use that as a training film over at Rodman's Neck, don't they?

The only difference between then and now is the "on the job" guy (or gal) would have emptied his (or her) Glock 19 and fired 46 rounds at this "perp" and still would have not hit the perp.

I hope the rest of NYPD have better shooting stance's then that. Maybe thats why 80% of all shots fired by Police officer in shooting's, dont hit the intented target's!!

1950s? Perhaps a 3.5" rocket launcher (Super Bazooka)...... I doubt that anything else handheld and shoulder fired would have had a chance......

From my vast experience on the subject, I can categorically state that when a monster is high on PCP, it can easily absorb 5 chest shots and keep coming!

The cop should have visited this Forum. He would have known from our experts that the only way to stop the monster is to shoot him in the pelvis.
