M&P 15-22 bipod help

I am going to get a bipod for my 15-22.
What would be a good one reasonably priced just for plinking

I bought a Caldwell "AR" bipod off Amazon a couple of years ago.

Didn't work out for my M$P 15, so I use it on my 15/22.

About 1/3 the price of a Harris but you get what you pay for.

The Harris has lots more useful features, better materials and built for battle.

The Caldwell does work well for plinking with the 15/22 but the QD lever that comes with sux balls.

I have one of these on an AR15, not a 15-22, but it seems pretty decent.

I've got three S-Series Harris bi-pods from bench height, through prone, and into sitting. Which one I have on my rifle depends on my intended usage.

Sure they're more expensive than the cheap Chinese knock-offs, but Smokestack said it all when he said you get what you pay for. When you no longer need the Harris, you can sell it for more than the knock-off sold for new. The knock-off will go into the trash.

The thing to remember about bipods is that they can swapped out in a second and used on any gun. Might as well buy a Harris and have a bipod that can hold up to any gun.

Are all the Harris models initially designed to attach via sling swivel stud and then modified by adding an adapter to attach to a picatinny rail?

Or does Harris have models specifically for picatinny rail attachment?

I bought the sling swivel model and use a quick detectable picatinny mount. Most of the rifle I have that I would use a bipod have pic rails on them, so a quick throw of the QD lever and it on the other rifle. I'm using an American Defense bipod mount and it had worked out great for me.

Harris bipods are all basic and use an adapter for different guns. I've never had an issue with any of the adapters.

I just checked their web page. They have some new high end rotating adapters available in quick detach and non-quick detach. All my AR's are either for competition or hunting, so the $12 adapter works just fine. They even make an adapter that contains a short picatinny rail section so you can mount a laser or light to your bolt gun.

Love mine - if you decide you want a foregrip too this is the one to get, much better made than the alternatives I've seen

I have a Harris on my DDM4. One thing to keep in mind is that it adds a bit of weight. For my MP15-22 I went with one of the forgrips with the built in bipod you can get off Amazon for around $12. Works rather well for the price.

Put a nice KeyMod Free Float hand guard on, then use the bi-pod adapter.

That's what I did.
Grabbed the 13 inch KMR and a Troy bipod adapter. Reduces the weight considerably compared to the big metal block used for regular 1913 rails.

Plus it's Pretty much QD with the added benefit of having the bipod rest completely against your handguard. Just squeeze the mount and snap into the Troy adapter. Hand tighten the screw. Ready to go
