M&P 15-22 Results, Post 'em here. I got Mine!!

i got my 15-22 at Academy, so when i had the issues, i took it back to Academy, and they sent it off for me, and s&w returned it back to them, but i called s&w atleast once a week or more, keeping status on it, and the last i called, they told me it had been sent back that day, and gave me a tracking number. If you do send yours off, be good to call and keep track of it, so you know when your going to be getting it back.

Finally got my M&P 15-22 delivered on Wednesday and took it out yesterday to test fire.

Had about a half dozen fail-to-feeds with CCI Mini Mag ammo shooting about 175 (or so) rounds, I'm thinking it was because it is a new rifle and may require some more break-in before I can expect fewer mis-feeds.

Compared to the Walther G22 I had this is awesome, accurate and reliable for a semi-auto rimfire and a great value!!! :D

The only bummer is that it's competing with 2 M4s for accessories.....so little will change from it's out-of-box looks. It's got my extra Tango Down bipod on and will likely get a Daniel Defense swivel sling attachment for the side of the rail. It may also get a hand-me-down Burris or Vortex Strikefire sight after I upgrade my LMT M4...after that it's just going to be shot every time I go out shooting.

You have a problem if it has FTFs with CCI mini mags. It should be 100 percent.

Keep shooting it. If it's locked at around 6-8 FTF every 200, polishing the feedramp could be in order, maybe even the lower 1/2 of the chamber opening. I saw a post elsewhere about slightly radiusing the often sharp chamber opening. It could be the mags, too, and they'll smooth out after awhile.

Thanks for the input gents, I'll be tearing it down this afternoon so I'll check the ramp and chamber area for burrs and will take some 320 grit emery cloth to the ramp, then apply some polish with my dremel.

If I'm lucky I'll get out again this weekend to try it out. :)

Got it back today. Looks as though they fired it a lot; dirty. May get to the range this weekend if I'm nice to my wife:D

I got mine packed and ready to ship back to S&W. I had a few FTE and FTF problens. I called them last week and they sent me a return label today. I called FEDEX and they will pick it up Monday.Hopefully everthing will work out well.:)

Got to use mine today for the first time! Very happy..no problems at all. See my other thread.

That wouldn't be too bad of a job. Just shoot customers guns all day long on company ammo. And not have to clean the guns when you are done. :D

Did they give you any extra magazines when they returned your gun?

Got my rifle Saturday October 24th, took it out today Friday October 30. First 80-90 rounds (At 3 in the clip at a time, due to stupid PA Gaming Range laws) went through like a charm with one failure to fire. The sights were a little low so we raised them a notch.

When we went to another range later in the day that allows you to load a full clip and fired another 50 rounds. The first 15 rounds fired well. I got most of the shots on target and I was having a lot of fun. Then I started to get failure to eject problems. By the end of the 50 rounds the gun was failing to eject after just 5-6 rounds with one round getting stuck in the bore.

Sadly now it has to go back to S&W for repairs, I just hope when I get it back this never happens again. I am not mad just disappointed. :(

Repair + free magazines...

Did they give you any extra magazines when they returned your gun?

Yes. Two. I didn't want to brag about it; seems S&W wants to make amends for problematic rifles. With the 3 extra magazines I purchased after getting the rifle, that puts me up to 6 total; probably too many for target shooting, but nice to have... The rifle is dirty, though; cardboard, lubricant, and powder residue all over it.

Can never have too many magazines. :D

Sounds like time for a thorough cleaning.

Got my 15-22 about two weeks ago. Took it out today for the first time. Shot 100 rounds of Winchester Super X with only one failure to fire. I inspected the round and it had a nice indent from the firing pin. Then after those 100 rounds I decided to load some Remington bulk. The first round didn't chamber, then I had some FTE. In less than 1 mag I had 4 failures. Needless to say I pulled the mag out and dumped the remaining rounds back into the box. The Bass Pro was out of CCI so next time I'll give them a try. All in all the rifle shot really well at 25 yards I had all but 1 round in the bullseye. Looking forward to many more rounds and having it broke in. Should be a tack driver. Spoke with an employee at Bass Pro who has one too, he said his will shoot Remington bulk all day. He also said it outshoots his 10/22?

congrads, go get the Federal 550 bulk pack at walmart, these guns love em!!! Congrads on your new 15-22. There is a few people on here that like there 15-22 over their 10/22.

Are you sure it is dirt related and not something else? Will be interesting to get your report after rifle is cleaned and another range trip is logged.

Cleaned up and back on target. So I guess I'll be forced to clean before every 1,000 rounds. Geesh.... what a hastle! (wink)

The distance I like best is 50 yards. The 15-22 will stay on a 2inch target with a red dot while I lean against a post. And for cans and such at 50 yards... it's a blast. I did some bench shooting at 100 yards with a 3-9x scope but was less than impressed. I'll stay with my bolt action Savage if accuracy at 100 yards is the game.
