I think the M&P 15-22 emits some type of a masochistic spell. While at the range the other day, I found myself unexplainably reaching for the Remmington GB.

Why not shoot the cheap stuff and be happy?
Because (currently) there is no "cheap stuff" available locally. And, mainly, because S&W says that it should shoot Federal bulk and CCI perfectly...well, mine does not. I will call S&W just to see what they think (or at least see what the customer service agent on the phone thinks)...
Our Walter P22 loves the CCIs, Aquila, and Federal bulk, but we have only have CCIs locally. I would just be happier if it shot everything well; I do have about 350 rounds of the Remingtons to get rid of, though...
Oh, and did I mention that our (very inexpensive) Marlin 60 eats every type of .22lr ever fed into it with zero rifle malfunctions? Any problems were ammo-induced (Remington Gold), but VERY few.

Yes it'd be nice if this gun shot every type of ammo but that's not an expectation I have. My bar has been lowered due to having similar problems with almost every .22 I've ever shot. Federal ammo has been the most consistent for me (zero malfunctions) so I'm trying to stick with that.

Finally got my rifle back last Thursday. Just under 3 weeks from the day I sent it in. Arrived with two free mags! Nice touch....
Been traveling since Friday, so I have not had a chance to fire it. Will advise as soon as I get that opportunity and give a range report.
S&W only said that my rifle was "...now updated to the latest spec...".

Just making note of similar characteristics with women and guns. As far as me... well.... I try to avoid gun shops and nite clubs.... there's always something I want to bring home. I'm weak... very weak.

Just got back from the range from shooting the M&P 15-22 after having installed the JP Enterprises trigger kit (speed hammer, trigger, disconnector)… I put 250 rounds of Fed bulk pack without the slightest hiccup – every round fed & fired perfectly.
I have the JP trigger kit in both my Wilson and Colt AR's and have always liked them, but in the M&P 15-22 it made an incredible difference… by leaving in the OEM hammer spring (wanted to be sure there was plenty of hammer force to ignite rimfires easily) it ended up giving me right at a 4# trigger pull that is incredibly crisp and predictable, without any creep or stacking. The trigger kit was a perfect replacement for all of the original factory parts and the installation couldn't have gone smoother.
I strongly recommend anyone that enjoys shooting the M&P 15-22 should seriously think about investing in this trigger kit… I couldn't be happier with it!

JP Enterprises Competition Trigger Kit with Trigger, Hammer and Anti-Walk Pins AR-15 Small Pin .154" 4 lb - MidwayUSA
Both Midway USA and Brownells carry them for around $170 (trigger, disconnector & hammer… the kit without the hammer is quite a bit less)… I took extra careful time doing the install and final adjustments (calibrating the pre & over-travel set screws) and it still only took about 20 minutes (I actually wish it had taken longer, I enjoy that kind of stuff.

Anyone tried the included hammer spring on these kits? I know it can throw the blowback dwell off a bit...

I debated heavily on giving the included reduced power hammer spring a try… I actually had it in the lower after doing the original installation; but, the more I worked with it the more I felt that sticking with the OEM hammer spring was likely best. The reduced power felt like it had around ½ the force of the OEM and while my main thought was being able to ignite the rimfires reliably, now that I think about the blowback dwell time it makes even more sense to use the OEM. This kit as is gives an incredibly improved trigger feel using the OEM spring, the directions even suggest using the OEM hammer spring for a slightly heavier trigger and to reliably ignite harder primers… I would be curious about trying the lighter hammer spring, I might swap them out to try it sometime.

I took mine out today for the 2nd time. Once again no problems at all. I shot over 100 rounds of Federal jacketed HP Bulk Pack and CCI Mini-Mags today, I have close to 200 flawless rounds through it. The gun is great so far.

Not being a nomenclature nazi, but for clarity, there are no .22LR jacketed rounds. It's just a copper flash, and doesn't even hold up to firing to keep the bore from leading really...works better to keep ugly lead oxide from occurring, or just to look nice.

Thank you, I just looked at the box and it said 'plated' not jacketed. I learn something new everyday.

Yeah, you really don't get into jacketed rounds unless you shoot .22 mags or centerfire.
