M&P 22 magnum slide

Recently purchased a M&P 22 WMR, love it. Great to shoot. Went to dress it down for the first time and after I got the pin out, I can't get the slide to come off. Any suggestions or am I overlooking something. Seems fairly straight forward. Thanks in advance.

I'l take a wild, uninformed guess. Is the magazine out of the pistol?

Had the same thing happen, magazine out, safety on, hammer cocked. All per the owners manual. Finally got the slide off but getting it back on was near impossible. The gun it at S&W right now waiting for inspection.

Got the 22 mag today. All the paperwork said was "replaced the trigger". Have not shot it yet or removed the slide to see if it will not go back together agfain.
