After shooting competitively for five years, exploring a bunch of guns, I came across the M&P Pro and found that it fitted my hand best (other guns I shot: CZ75 SP01 Shadow, Bul M5, Tanfoglio clone, a few Glocks and other narrow bodied CZ75s). As I live outside the USA, the main pistol shooting sport is IPSC, which has slightly different rules to USPSA. People in Standard Division (similar to Limited) tend to either buy custom raceguns or modify stock guns with aftermarket parts.

Because the M&P is made in the USA and State Department rules make exporting minor gun parts prohibitively expensive for small manufacturers, it would be nice if Smith and Wesson could make an export sporting version of the M&P Pro, without the expense of an Apex Tactical Dream Gun, but with aftermarket parts thrown in. The market for this gun would be IPSC shooters.

My wish list for an M&P Pro Standard gun (in 9mm or 0.40S&W) available from Smith and Wesson to importers in Europe and other IPSC countries would be:

1. Stock M&P Pro with Warren Tactical sights (front fiber optic).
Apex Tactical flat faced forward set trigger, with lightened striker spin, trigger return spring and matching sear.
2. 20 round 9mm / 17 round 0.40 magazines (stock magazines with 129mm Taran Tactical or Taylor Freelance basepads do the job).
3. Carver Big Mouth steel magwell (works with TTI basepads best).
4. SJC frame weight.

Said gun would fit fine in a CR Speed sport holster. It would probably be easy to develop a specification for a factory Open gun too, but I'm no expert in comps, mounts and scopes.

That said, the stock M&P Pro works fine in the IPSC Production Division, although most shooters in the world prefer CZ75 clones with lighter triggers.

Fantasy over.
