I was in my local gun shop and notice that he had a 38 cal M&P( not 38 spec) he called it a traditional model. This gun has never been fired and comes with a box. Shame on me for not getting a serial #. But I will get it. Are these gun hard to come by.

Hello Al, are you sure he didn't call that gun a "transitional" instead of traditional? I've never heard of a traditional model however the transitional guns are those that share some features of both pre and post war era. For instance, long action, thin hammer larger ejector knob (prewar) in conjunction with some post war features like an "S" serial number and some other things.
Having said that, there are clearly many things smith & wesson of which I know not of

I vote we wait for the serial #. Gunshop chatter or descriptions are notorious for being off base. Gun show descriptions aren't a whole lot better, but usually some jerk like hangs out around here will debunk it fast.

Roger, you are correct I have bad hearing so you are right that it is a transitional. I called back and the gun has been sold. Thanks for your help.
