Does anyone know exactly what is changed on the M&P's trigger to increase it to 10lbs? I originally thought I wanted the heavy trigger but after trying a few standard models I'm having second thoughts since it seemed smoother than the heavy trigger. Is this just an indication that the heavy trigger pistol I fired wasn't broken in yet or is there some design difference that makes the lighter trigger smoother?

Sorry for the dumb question, but will that affect anything other than the weight of the pull?

Well jeez, thanks!

The question was address to the forum in general.. If it pains you to answer, you can always ingnore it..

The problem I'm running into is anecdotal evidence that the MA trigger is more like 15lbs, not 10. It's been a while since I've fired an MA-spec M&P and there aren't any for me to try in Virginia so I'm torn between whether or not to order one.

I don't remember them even mentioning the MA compliant trigger when I took the armorer's class. Maybe the trigger return spring and/or striker spring control it?
I cannot imagine why anyone would want one on purpose, if they had a choice. Improving and lightening the factory 6.5 spec guns has become a cottage industry in itself.

I learned to shoot with heavy triggers so they're what I'm used to. I also wouldn't want to go too light on a carry gun...the standard trigger is about as low as I'd want to go.

I have 6 M&Ps..........the full size 45 must have the MA compliant, as it is obviously a heavier pull......and my 9 Pro is down around 3 or 3.5....scary for carry, or any sort of stress situation, but it helps deliver groups that amaze. At least they amaze my old ass....
The other 4 are not at all the same........a couple sort of roll with around a 5 to 6 pound pull, another is crisp at a little more, the last is crisp at probably a bit less than 5. That is on is a .45c, maybe the sweetest feeling, shooting .45 I have ever shot.
The heavier, full sized .45 trigger is helped by applying a daub of JB weld to the "stop" on the trigger guard, so that it actually does stop overtravel. It is not my favourite trigger, but it is very easy to shoot well.
And the half circle configuration of the M&Ps trigger feels much better to me than the comma-shaped Glock trigger, whatever the weight.
Not a Glock bash...........if they had the grip ergonomics of the M&Ps, I would not have traded them away for the better feeling, and hence, better shooting Smiths.
In summary, it seems that all striker-fired autos have a bit of inconsistancies in the way they feel when you pull the trigger.

I have a Mass, m&p 9c and just had a 6 pound spring installed yesterday, to my happiness it seems to be at least half of what it was and three times smoother.

Does the trigger pull feel any shorter with the standard trigger spring? I like the feel of the standard trigger but it would be perfect for me if it was a bit heavier.

I didn't notice any change in the length of the pull just smoother and lighter.

Good to know. Short and heavy trigger pull is exactly what I'm looking for. I would imagine the MA trigger would smooth out over time. On a related note, I was discussing this topic on another forum and was told that you have to change out the whole sear housing block to go from 10 to 6.5lbs. Is there any truth to that?

my trigger feels about the same weight as a standard Glock. Great for me.

It's definitely a good trigger but for some reason I tend to shoot more accurately with something heavier.
