Nuthin' fancy here (no light box, great camera, expensive gun) . . .

But here's my new M&P15OR, already updated with the new, recently released Magpul MOE handguards. These make an amazing difference in the handling of the carbine . . . more like the original triangular M16 handguards.

These truly have a more triangular shape to them (hard to show), that lays in the hand much better. You can mount accessory rails on the sides and bottom too for lights, straps, mono grip/bipods, etc.

Naturally, it works well with the A2 type front sight, but also works great with the tall gas block on the front of the S&W M&P15OR too, I'm very glad to say!

Naturally, this new carbine is a work in progress. I imagine backup flip-up front and rear sights are next, along with a different grip.

Suggestions on front sight? It rests on the taller gas block than many AR15s have, so I've got to keep that in mind.

T.

I have an M&P15 OR that I just converted to a M&P15T by removing the handguard & replacing the gas block with the low profile one from Troy.

Before I made that conversion I bought the Troy folding front sight and it lined up perfectly because the gas block rail on the OR is exactly even with the top rail on the upper.

Here's my M&P-15 ORC in my preferred pseudo-scout format...my AR's are used mostly for plinking at the range and for quick shots on scurrying varmints on the ranch. Nothing fancy, just a Leupold 2.5x28mm IER scope (on a YHM 6" extended rail and the Colt/B-square 1-piece mount) and a Surefire G2/KX4 flashlight.

I do also like being able to use and practice with my irons without removing the scope with this setup.

There are some very...heavy...ARs on this page. If only Eugene Stoner could see what his simple, light battle rifle has been turned in to. :D

Posting a new pic of my M&P15 MOE with its sidekick M&P.357sig. When I got my Nations Finest Rebate in the mail, Smith and Wesson was nice enough to include a very cool coin.

I am a little partial to this one.

It shoots at least as well as I do. The S&B glass does not hurt.

jt185 what kind of sling is that ? You like it ? Works good ?

After three years of playing Barbie with the three OR's I bought, I decided to let go of two of them, and make the last one into the best combination of pieces and parts for my sole Urban Rifle. I've got 4,500 rounds through it without ANY kind of malfunction, and most of that ammo was steel-cased Russky stuff, plus a few handloads here and there. The objective was to keep the weight to a minimum, while adding touches that would make it more shootable. A 4-pound Timney single-stage trigger and a 2X7 Redfield give me the ability to hit walnuts at 100 yards, the rifle runs a hair over MOA with cheap ammo, about 3/4 with its favorite handloads. That's about as good as I can hold, and plenty good enough for any situation I'd ever use it in!

Here is my boomstick. I gotta say, I think SW has one of the best looking roll marks. I started life out as a MP15OR. I thought I was done but now after seeing the VTACs, I'm not so sure.
