M1A scope mount

I've got a Basset for my regular M1a. It isn't a bad mount, seemed to work fine. Much better choice for a temporary or removable mount, whereas the Sadlak really is just about permanent.

The only problems was, you sent in your money and basically they gave you no contact or updates on your order, and you sat waiting for any type of reply or even an update on your order. I think mine took quite a while to get.

Also, for a range rifle, it will work fine. But, the lack of contact makes me concerned about more field use. The Sadlak is practically indestructable and you will never worry about breaking it or hurting anything. The Basset may not take heavy field use nearly as well.

The Sadlak mount is more expensive with the aluminum version running a bit more than a Springfield Gen 4, and the steel versions costing a lot more than the aluminum or steel Springfield mounts.

I'd pay the extra for the steel mounts. The weight saving with the aluminum mounts is negligible, but the bigger reason is rate of expansion when they heat up. I can't say definitely about the Sadlak mount (but I imagine it is the same as the Fulton), but the steel mounts are the same steel as used in the receivers of the rifles, and therefore will have the same rate of expansion, minimizing zero shift almost to the point of eliminating it as the receiver heats the mount from shooting. It takes very little to affect zero at longer ranges; I take mine out to 800 yards routinely when I shoot, and have shot as far as 1000 yards. I have no issues with my mount or scope at those ranges. It becomes more a factor of load development and weather, and how steady I can get.

Exactly what M1A said.
Been down that road and agree 100%.
I will also temper that with the fact that I canned the Basset and optics and went back to iron sights. I was a happier camper in the end. Actually I also canned the M1A and went back to my M1 Garands.
It's all personal preference and we must go through the exercise to find our own sweet spot.

I have the Smith enterprises us property marked mount on my m1a super match, I can still use the irons, but I would be lying if I told you how it worked, because I have never fired it, but I figured it was good enough for the navy contract, it should serve me well
