Hi guys,
I found this gun yesterday in a LGS. Serial number has me concerned. The number is stamped 5K77058. The first 5 and the 8 look completely different than the other numbers. They look like they were stamped with a different tool, much narrower, lighter strike.
Front and rear sights are SS, trigger and hammer are not.

They want $400 for it. Factory stocks are gone, it wears rubber grips. 4" barrel.
Any idea if this is factory original?
Thanks in advance...

Take the grips off.. serial numbers match..??

That serial number would put the gun being made in 1974. That is consistent with a M67 no-dash with SS sights. The sights were later changed to blued steel. I would not be concerned with the different font sizes in the serial number. BTW, $400 is a very good price.

You didn't mention if the stamped numbers are from the bottom of the grip frame (normal) or elsewhere, and if the numbers are stamped in two different spots that they match? Agree it is probably just a normal procedural variation, but photos would help.

Are you looking at the serial number on the grip butt? Often the serial numbers inside the yoke are all cattywampus, but the number on the butt should be uniform.
Also, the hammer and trigger from the factory would be stainless; probably replaced by a previous owner. Check carefully to see if any other home-gunsmithery might have been performed. Be wary of pushoff, light mainspring, etc.

Thanks for the help fellas. SN mentioned was from the yoke. I'll have a look at the number under the grips this next week.

So, trigger and hammer not SS...so not original. Probably better for "a shooter" but yes, not original.
No original stocks.
Kinda dirty, but I can clean it up to look nice.

I already have a nice 4" M66-4

What do you think this M67 is worth these days?

The numbers on the yoke cutout on revolvers of this era range from perfectly straight to Monday morning hangover levels of quality, so I doubt the crooked numbers are a concern as long as they match the ones on the grip frame.

These had carbon steel hammers and triggers with a matte silver coating. If original but dirty $400 is a fair (not great) price, depending on your location. Good luck in your decision.
