magazine metal floor plates for 3913, etc

I had a project on the 'photo table',so just used the empty space/sheet of white paper for the mag pics. The project was recoil spring guide rods.

You got a lot going on there oldman10mm! I can see you are a fan of the DOA 3rd gens. Don't get all those bits mixed up! I'd be afraid to have that many guns apart, on the same table, at the same time :)

I have a Marlin camp 9 that takes 59 series S&W magazines. I am always at Kittery trading Post searching for magazines and parts. Those S&W mags and parts are drying up!

You can use 3rd Gen 59xx mags in the Marlin also...................look at Mec-gar for IIRC new 15,18 and 20 rd 59xx mags

Sorry you are in Mass..... they may have 10rd magazines also.

Metal Kahr base plate assembly for 3913/CS9 mags

I have the stainless floorplate from Kahr MK9 mags on a couple of 3913 mags. Perfect fit.

They are.

I put them on a couple of my CS-9 mags as I carry it IWB often. The lower profile butt plate is nice.

To cover the exposed metal between the base plate & the bottom of the frame (as seen in post #4's picture) I added an o-ring that fits unobtrusively there.

Your CS9 is looking good BLUEDOT! Very innovative to use the o-ring with the Kahr base plate. Glad to see that the o-ring did not interfere with the grips at all, as it seems to stay within the width of the gun frame all around.

I don't use the Kahr base plates, but put one on a CS9 mag when making these grips for BLUEDOT, and dang, it is hard to get back off!! I think I'll have to put the mag in a vise and tap it off with a punch. Maybe a little kroil first...

From the short time I had them, my recollection is that the early 3913LS magazines were seven rounds only because they used a spring with several extra coils at the top. That kept the eighth round from being loaded.

I swapped springs between an eight round with a plastic baseplate and the seven round with metal baseplate. I ended up with a metal baseplate magazine that would hold eight rounds and a plastice baseplate magazine that only held seven rounds.

The magazine bodies were the same length and as I recall, I was even able to swap baseplates.

I might have some pictures somewhere, but I'm not sure.

I have a few of these 7-round 3913LS mags, and when I put a new recoil spring in (regular 39xx spring) I was also able to fit 8 rounds in the mag. Unfortunately, I was not able to get the mag with 8 rounds to fully seat in a 3913, so I still just load 7 rounds in them.

Can anyone suggest a source for these Kahr mag bases?

Why do you think that? The links take you to Kahr & you can add them to your cart & checkout?

.

The link does in fact take me to the Kahr website and more specifically to the actual mag base plate. When I attempt to add it to my cart a pop up shows and says something about an error.

Using a Windoz computer, I was able to order both the base plate (2) and magazine base locks. But, their website has issues so my C/C was declined. I called them (US, English-speaker) and they're in-stock but it's either C/C or money order to pay for them. Since I have a Kahr 9, I pulled a base plate and lock, and checked. The baseplate leaves a tiny but noticeable gap where it's not quite long enough - maybe 1mm. This post (Thanks!) has now solved my dilemma of making 3906 mags lock in easily on my 39's. Most recent 39 only came with one mag, although it was/is a correct steel-follower mag. Model 39 looks pretty good with a 3906 mag although it is a little long. Hope to post a pic or two soon ...

That's why I used the o-rings on my CS9 mags with the Kahr base plates. Did you try them too?

Which model's mags are you doing it to?
