Hot Wells is out 290, West of 1960, between about The Barker-Cypress and Skinner exits. It is in the South side of 290.
PROS:
Close to the West side. Cheap. They also have rifle ranges.
CONS:
On the pistol ranges, the targets are near ground level, so you are aiming at a downward angle. They get real busy at times, and don't always stretch the targets out before stapling them, so the bullseye area can shift around in the wind. I'm all for safety, but if you appear to them to be younger than 30 they go overboard. NO double-taps or rapid fire.
For pistols, I only go there for function checks. If my goal is to see how tight a groups I can get, or double-tap practice, I resort to an indoor range near 610 & I-59. They have their quirks too, but generally it is a better experience.
