High Capacity Magazine Loading!

Revolvers are my first love, always will be. Over the years the high capacity selfloader has crept into my life.

My hands have been an issue since I was in my forties, and now that another twenty years has passed it's becoming near impossible to load hi cap pistol mags.

I simply don't have the strength, grip, and tolerance for pain (physical and mental) to load 15+ rounds.

I've looked at mechanical aids, but I may not always have one available.

Any advice from this sage family is appreciated!

Nothing wrong with getting back to revolvers. However, I do not see the large-magazine autoloader as a problem, either, since I am looking at it as a weapon. When did you ever carry a slabside gun as a weapon with a box of cartridges in your pocket? You can carry two or more loaded magazines with your gun and be ready for almost anything. Of course, you will load them at home. Or your wife will, or your friend from across town. That's the beauty of magazines - they will work pretty much whoever loads them, and when.

I agree. Get a good mechanical loader, as the Uplula that was mentioned...load your mags at your convenience at home, and carry them with you. I guess if you're concerned about going to the range...just either load enough mags beforehand, or make danged sure the loader is a part of your normal range gear...just as your ear and eye protection.

You could try the M&P "EZ" model. I bought one because the slide was getting harder to rack but they are "EZ" loaders too.

I know how you feel, when I go to the range and forget my mag loader I only load as many as I can put in comfortably, you don't have to load all 15 rounds, 6,8, or 10 at a time are a lot easier to load in a 15 rd. mag.

What others have said plus: And a random number of rounds per magazine can help you practice reloads.

Another vote for the UpLula loader. I like them so much I bought two, one stays at home and one stays in my range bag.

With that said, there's nothing wrong with going back to revolvers.

Keeping mags loaded won't hurt the springs....... so carry/store ammo in loaded magazines ....... loaded while watching a old J Wayne movie at home.

OP - Like others here, I use an UpLULA, but if your hands are in bad shape you might try a Cadwell Universal Pistol Loader. It's a little more complicared than the UpLULA, but way easier on the hands.

My arthritis means an Uplula always lives in the range bag. If I needed it someplace else also, I'd buy another one.

Can't beat the Uplula. I have a couple of them. Also, a good excuse to get more magazines so you can load enough for a range trip at home.

Yes, get a loader.
I use one to load my 10-22 Mags.
I have one for my Twinky-Two Handgun Mags, but usually don't use them.

My Uplula never leaves my range bag. If I'm home it is with me and if I go to the range it is with me. I have loaned it out several times but seldom more than once to the same person, as they usually go buy one after using it once.

My wife has changed from a J-frame to a K-frame for precisely the same reason. Old Arthur won't let her fire the J-frame without pain from closing her grip, but both K-frames and Ruger Security 6 sized frames are still okay for now.

They're pretty reasonable, too. Not much reason not to have one anywhere you might need one.
If you need to load a mag under fire, that gets chalked up to "poor planning."

Another vote for the Uplula loaders. I have a couple of them, one for pistol mags and one for my AR-15 mags. I needed the AR mag loader when I switched over to PMags, as the stripper clip guide won't fit over a PMag.
