Misplaced guns

Misplaced a Beretta.

After a trip to Mexico I was cleaning out the camper and found a loaded Beretta stuffed in the far end of a cubby full of dirty socks!

I can't even imagine the issues we would have had to contend with had we been stopped and searched in Mexico! And a loaded gun was found!

Smiles,

For me to register it I would have needed a bill of sale and a NICS check. With it considered "lost" the old guy's daughter would have had to report that when she cancelled his pistol permit. In essence, I would have been in possession of an unregistered stolen handgun.

I’m glad I don’t live where you do. “Registered handgun” is a phrase that just doesn’t compute with me.

These stories are great. Well a couple of years ago I realized I was missing a SSA 3rd gen was missing. It shows in my records that I keep for my home stuff and did not show on my C&R, but since it wasn't a CnR, I wouldn't have added it. In the back of my mind, I think I remember selling it when we went through a period of selling some of the excess, but also would swear I didn't.
No thoughts of it being stolen or lost, and we did move, but I wouldn't have left it at the old house? Simply because it wasn't one that I relied on if it wasn't in the safe... BUT, I haven't taken it off of my home list because I keep thinking, maybe, somehow I put it in a box and its one I haven't opened (we moved 3 yrs ago)!

lost

A couple of years ago I was at a friends house buying a lot of ammo. About 10 cans of clipped 30-06. I think I was paying 50 cents a round so I was stocking up. After hand over a bunch of Benjamins, I stuffed the rest in my jacket pocket. Next day I couldn't find it, about $800, went back and looked all over the driveway, in the truck and his shop. No luck, 2 Years later I was cleaning up my desk and back of one of the cubby holes I found It. I have no recollection of putting it there.

Several years ago it dawned on me that I hadn’t seen my colt saa in awhile. Looked for it and it wasn’t with the other guns, had no clue where it could be. Several months later it dawned on me I’d stashed it in my sock drawer when I’d been interrupted by someone who didn’t need to know about it.
(Shows how often I wear socks...)

I went to an estate sale where the man had died and his children sold off the guns before they started the sale. All that was left was a gun safe and a few odd cases.

I bought a hard shell handgun case for $1. It went cheap because it was locked and they didn't have a key. I knew i could open it because i had one similar to it. I also admit that I knew it wasn't empty because it was quite heavy.

When I got home my key opened it right up. So, I ended up with a $1 gun case and a free Model 27-1 in mint condition.

I was hoping it might have been full of ammo or something. Naturally I went right back to the sale and alerted the manager. She said there was 1 gun on the old guy's pistol permit that they couldn't find. I DID get to keep the case.

You’re a good man GJ.

I once lost my model 18-4 for several months. I used to take it out to drilling rig obs and when the rigs shutdown for a long period and I was out of work for a while. Found the 18 in a box of work clothes later.

I don't know if I should but anyway, back in the day I had a baby browning, couldn't find it for about two weeks, this is in Canada so,anyway I wanted some ice cream and low and behold there was the little fella behind the pail. Near as I can figure booze was involved in the placement of it there.[emoji2955]

I was teaching a friend of one how to shoot a handgun without the aid of sights. He has macular degeneration so sights were of no value to him.
At any rate, he purchased a Smith 22A. Never saw as fancy as his. We took the pistol to the ranch and he burned several hundred rounds developing his eye to hand coordination.
When the session was over we picked everything up and headed to the house.
When we got home no 22A in the truck. Quickly made the 1.5 hour drive back to the ranch. Nope not there, ranch house? No. Tore my truck apart for an hour. Nope.
We have never relocated that gun.
The area we were using to shoot is remote and at least 1.5 miles from public access on heavily posted land.
To this day we have no idea where that gun disappeared to.

This is a story about a "misplaced" pistol where I was the beneficiary. I bought a 22 conversion unit off ebay for my beretta m9 about 7 years ago. I waited about 5 days and got in the u.s. mail to my home. Opened it up and realized the unit was mounted to a Beretta frame! So I received a fully functional pistol! Of course I left the seller excellent feedback! Haha. Waited a day and contacted the seller about the situation. He didn't have a clue. Rather than mail it back, we negotiated a price and I kept it

Not me but my Dad. He had an early Colt Woodsman that he carried everywhere. In the ranch house, there were two adjacent closets. He kept his guns in the one that locked.

He told me he thought his pistol had been stolen out of his truck when he was doing some evening work at the church.

I found a newer Woodsman pristine and still in the box with paperwork and bought it for him.

About three years after the first one went missing, my mom was taking some stuff out of the linen closet and found the Colt. Apparently he went to put it in the gun closet, which was locked so he tucked it under some towels.

In my working years I traveled to almost every state in the union. I'm glad I don't live in some of those so called gun friendly states because IMHO many of them ****. People, climate, scenery and cost of living are the criteria that make a home.

I "MISPLACED "(LOST )a Glock 19 in a LOBO holster 2 wks. ago! I remember saying I'll put this where it will be easy to get too! I went to that
