A friend ( no really) replaced the original stocks with target stocks on his Model 18 that is fitted with a target hammer. The stocks supposedly are off a k frame 22.
The hammer will not go back far enough to engage the single action sear.
I think they are N frame.

Any ideas?

Hard to tell from the pic but take one off and look at the frame fit - did the friend also replace the H & T himself?

IMO, those grips look like the newer "Classic" type Target grips. Not sure how they would fit on an older K-frame. I would have gone with the correct era Target grips.

The hammer and trigger came with the gun.
He only replaced the stock

The proportions of the Target stocks in the photo appear to be N frame.

Edit to add: looking at a magnified photo, they do appear to be foreign made Target stocks with odd proportions.

The stocks cover the backstrap. Do any factory grips completely cover the backstrap?
What model would these grips possibly fit?
The interfering stock are on the left.

If they fit anything, it would be an N frame. The M18 looks to be in exceptional shape from the picture. No turn line. Reblued?

Personally, and I mean no offense here, but I would junk those, and get a set of factory K frame stocks, or Culina LLC stocks or check EBAY for some Ahrend stocks. All for K frame S&W. Check the want to sell accessories on this forum
