Model 19-1, cleaned up a bit.

I had put a four screw, 19-1 on layaway a week or so ago. I got it out of hock a couple of days ago, and was able to clean it up and make it presentable with a little Flitz, Ren Wax, and a little bit of elbow grease.

Since I can't shoot, I might as well show off a little.

This was before.

And these are after.

Of course the lighting and background are different, but I think the little bit of work was worth it.

Cleaned up very nicely. Those diamond target ain't a bit shabby either. Second Smith I ever owned was a 19. Still one of my favorites. Now you can start looking for a 2 1/2".

Those diamond targets are what jumped out at me from the dealer's case. I've got a Model 15-2 from 1966 that has them, and they fit my hand better than any other grip I've ever used. As you probably know, they're not as "fat" as later target stocks.

And they just look "right."

IIRC they have all had a K45 or K46 serial prefix and shipped from July to December 1962.

I'm in North Chesterfield as well and haven't had that kind of luck in this revolver Purgatory in 30+ years. Which LGS had that?

That's not going to happen anytime soon I'm afraid. All the ranges are closed around here.

I love the 19-1s. Here is k464,xxx that shipped in Sept 1962. I carry this gun while bow hunting, just in case I need it for bear or coyotes. It shoots like a dream.

I will be purchasing a 19-1, with box, next week. Almost perfect condition. Some minor rubs on tip of barrell. My initial search shows it was made in 1959. Is this correct?
