Model 29 problem/question

Ok got a pre-owned 29-3 and shot about 100 rounds through it without issues, went to the Range Monday and fired 25 magnums and 25 specials, Hornaday rounds.

A couple of times it would not rotate the barrel and I could not pull the hammer, everything locked. Then, once I got the barrell open (it would lock and not come out. Check rounds, seated, none were problems, put back in the gun would work fine.

Got it out to clean last night and could not get the barrel to flip out, ended up having to take it apart and use a tool to push the barrel tip in and I don't feel it moving in like I thought it would, finally it came out, leaves a small scar (can't remember if it was there before or not.

Cleaned it up and greased, the thumb release is stiff, doesn't like to
move easy as it should.

Cleaned the whole gun included removing the barrel release, wonder if the springs in there are old, need replacement...

Sounds a bit like a loose extractor rod, check that out. Make sure when you tighten, if it is loose to put a couple of empty cartridges in the cylinder so you don't put pressure on the extractor star and pin.

I can do that tonight to see how it works, the pin was loose I took it out last night after getting the barrel to come out turned by finger pressure only.

The extractor rod should be tighter than that. If you don't have a vice and rubber clamp, and don't know how to pull the yoke to remove the cylinder take it to a competent gunsmith and have him properly tighten her up for you. Do not attempt to do it with pliers or vice grip you will bugger it up for sure.

taking apart is easy done it several times
called LGS and talked with GS followed his advice
and took apart, cleaned again, oiled, put back together
and it's working great, rubber tipped pliers work very well.
