Hi, just wondering if anyone can tell me if grips for the model 39 will fit on the model 59? I know the arched backstrap on the 39 grips would have to be sanded down, but is the distance between the grip screw holes, the counterbores on the backs of the grips for the grip bushings, etc. the same? In other words, will they technically screw down and work on the gun without any fitting? Thanks all.

To answer your question, I have installed model 39 grips on a model 59 as the screw holes are the same. The only thing you would have to do is sand the excess wood off that will project past the grip on the model 59. If your grips are checkered they look a little strange after the sanding is done. My own opinion of course. I usually sand the remaining checkering off and refinish the entire grip. I have done this on several model 59's and it is an easy chore. Best wishes, Joe

Reviving a dead thread here, but do you have a picture of such a conversion?

That was almost 5 years ago,
Today you can purchase wood grips from Ebay made in Thailand that are purpose made for the Model 59 .
39 grips come up a bit short in the heel IIRC.
