I have a chance to pick up an "As New" Model 52.
Don't know the dash. I don't reload but won't be turned off to paying for factory 148 grain HBWC.

Can it be bought and where. Did a Google search to no avail.
Any guidance would be greatly apprteciated

Thank you,
Bob

Remember about the 52, and when it was originally designed. S&W, which is widely underrated as a maker of target grade autos these days, built, in the decade or so after World War II, a pistol that will feed full wadcutters seated flush, and reliably so.

Think about that. S&W's engineer assigned to the project, Mr. Dwayne Charron, built a pistol that will reliably feed something with the profile of an EMPTY CASE. And he designed the ball bushing barrel. And lots of other stuff.

In case anyone came to the party late, gunsmiths were still trying to figure out how to make 1911s feed hollowpoints that stuck out of the cases and had some type of ogive to go up a feed ramp decades after S&W did it with something with the profile of an empty case. Never sell S&W short when it comes to such things.

I say buy the 52 and worry about finding ammo later.

Model 52s shoot those HBWCs like a dream....never a bobble and as accurate as you.

I bought a near new Colt 1911 factory produced .38 Special gun and it just plain won't run. I called Jim Clark, Jr. about it and he said they don't run. I believe Clark occasionally has special barrels made for these Colts but I'm not sure.

Buy the Smith!

What a nice pistol. Unbelieveable trigger.
