Model 58 marked "DUMMY" **SCROLL DOWN TO POST #38 FOR UPDATED PHOTOS**

Two questions come up.

Can it be made into a working firearm and if it originally had a S/N is it legal?

Is there any reason that “DUMMY” cannot be the serial “number”? Does it have to be a number? We know there are serials with letters and numbers so why not all letters? Too tired to research that right now…

Since there are apparently several S&W's marked "DUMMY" on the butt I am not sure you could call the word DUMMY a serial number? But I may be wrong....this is the first of these that I have ever encountered.

All my dummy gum have a rod in the barrel and cylinder, welded at the muzzle and the thumb lock is welded

This one has NO rod or other obstruction in place....the barrel is rifled and if when you insert a dowel into the barrel it goes to the recoil plate.

The cylinder latch will not move.
