IMO it's more than fair. I paid $750 for mine, similar condition and not one round of ammo or nothing (ok it did come with an extra set of grips - elk stag).

And there does not appear to be. I would jump on it in a heart beat. And I have a nice clean one already. They are somewhat rare and they most assuredly do have a bit of a following. Great shooters in general and you can always get your money back out of it if you decide that it is not something that you want to hang on to.

I'd be at the door waiting for them to open to make the purchase. Those original PC, modified magnas are hard to find and very expensive when you do. Good luck, you won't be disappointed.

It's a very good price for you especially with ammo included. I didn't particularly like the looks of the side plate screws but other than that looks to have been carried a lot and shot little.

Great price. Be aware those stocks are unique to the 58 (and 520) and most 58s are seen missing the original correct stocks. Don't swap those away.

Like some other S&Ws, when the 58s (and 57s) were in production, they were far from popular. I don't know about the stainless guns but would guess they weren't big sellers either.
I recall putting a friend's 57 with accessories on my gun show table thirty or so years ago. I don't know if anyone even looked at it over the course of a weekend.
I haven't checked to see how many .41s were made, but sounds like these would be good guns to hang onto nowadays.

Amen to that...mine has 520 stocks lmao...somewhere out there is a 520 with my darn stocks most likely (not my 520, I checked)

Grips: $150. Ammo: $125-$150. Makes the gun about $350 to $380. When are you going to find another Model 58 for less than $400?

3 boxes of ammo at $45-$50 per box, and I've seen two sets of the grips on a well known auction site for $150 in the last month.

Hard to tell from a distance, but assuming the action and timing are good, that the barrel and rifling are good, and that there are no issues that would require an immediate trip back to S&W to rectify, the price seems eminently reasonable. I vote yes.
Please excuse my lack of knowledge, but what is it that makes these stocks unique to the Model 58? Anyone have a picture that shows these stocks next to a 'regular' pair?
