I just won this one on GB. SCSW simply says 'Limited production' in 1990. Anyone know how many were made? The book says there were 615 of its Model 36 counterpart produced. I know they are making a modern version, but this one doesn't have mim parts or a lock!
Thanks for any input.

Can't answer your question, but I can tell you I was looking at that one very seriously. Good score.

I have one, they are neat revolvers, I read that they were 2000 made, which seems odd, because I see them around pretty often.

Nice score. I also have a 60-4. This is a very accurate revolver! I consider it one of the finest and most useful revolvers that S&W ever made. I'm sure you will enjoy yours.

Yes, I agree they do show up often, and this has been discussed before in other threads. I have owned two, put one on the classifieds here within last year for $450 with no takers. Nice little gun, but I could not justify it for CCW because a 2.5" M66 or M19 weighs only one ounce more, so I let mine go.

I have one also, 60-4. Seems there are a bunch of them around. I imagine Smith produced more than 2000. As I mentioned in another thread, IMO it may be the ultimate 'kit' gun.

I like the target trigger, see them on G.B. once in a while, but never at a gunshow, accurate, good house gun.

.......I'm fond of mine too. These little revolvers have great balance and are much easier to learn to shoot than the snubbie J frames.....and other than pocket carry are just as concealable.

I actually prefer carrying it to my 2 1/2" M66-3.

It's quite a bit more compact than a K-frame snub. Weight isn't the whole story.

M60-4 I had my eye out for one of these for quite a while before I came across this one at a local show. Score.....and the price was good too! Interesting that the others shown have casehardened hammer and trigger while mine have stainless finish.

I believe the stanless finish was on the earlier ones (90-92).when it became a standard production item in '92,they went to black trigger& hammer.I have one of each.BFV28XX-'92 & BSC02XX-'94.

What gagunner said. BFV27XX, bought new January, 1991.

M60-4). According to my postal scale, the weight difference is a bit more than a half pound.

Those "stainless" hammers and triggers are actually "normal" steel, flash-chromed.

S&W went to that many years ago, as stainless parts there sometimes galled or wore faster, being softer.

What are these diminuitive target grips on all these guns - the ones I've seen for J frames are usually longer aren't they?

I think those may have been sanded down and refinished. I've seen some that were. They were a very nice fit in the hand.

I had one of those a few years ago and foolishly sold it to a friend. Couldn't really justify having one for carry, but they are just a neat little firearm. Found it's Model 36 equal a few years ago at a local gunshow, complete with box. Screwed around that day and went back to get it and it was gone. Got home and read they only made about 600, and this one was complete with box and everything. Some days your the windshield, some days you're the bug.
