I came across two Model 629's locally and have a few questions for the more experienced members.

They are both model 629-1 and have a 6" barrel. I don't believe this is an extremely rare model, but how common are they?

One only had wood grips and the asking price is $600? The other also had wood grips, but also came with the original box/papers and rubber grips. This one was $700, but the rear sight blade on this one needs replacing as it's chipped on a corner. Are these prices a bit on the high end?

They had been fired but not abused. I'm guessing 95-98% finish condition. Lastly, how expensive and where would I get a rear sight blade? Thanks.

The 629-1 ran from 1982-1988 when the change to the -2 version was introduced. They aren't all that hard to find.

The 629-1's are like the 29-3's. Good guns for sure, but neither fish nor fowl. They aren't pinned and recessed, and they don't have any of the endurance package upgrades.

I wouldn't pay over $600 for either of them, and would try to get them down to at least $550.

The rear sight blade and replacement parts kit, can be ordered directly from S&W at 1-800-321-0852, M-F, 8-8

I just picked up this 629-1 unfired with box, tools and paperwork for $520 total.

I just recently sold my 6" 629-1 with box and papers and tools for $700 no problem in this area. But this area commands higher prices that most areas.

My 629-1 6" is pinned but not recessed (a transition model no doubt).

I just bought one in great shape in a brand new rug from a dealer here in Las Vegas for $575 out the door.

I picked up a 629-4 8-1/2 barrel with a simmons scope for $650. I was wondering what year it is serial #cal19##

I got a BRAND NEW 629-6 (6" Barrel) for $549 less than three months ago.

I looked for several months and finally found a 629-6, 6 inch in nearly new condition for $570. (Wanted a dash 5 or 6 for the endurance package) The going price in Western PA for a clean 629 is between $550 and $750 with most being in the $695 range.
