Hello everyone

I have a model 64-3 revolver stainless, wood grips, 38 special that was made in 1981 according to SW customer service, it appears to be in excellent condition. I have had it for 15 years but have never fired it.

Does anyone have an idea on potential value?

They're not uncommon, actually. I would guess that 2 years ago 300 bucks would be right. I recollect paying around 600 dollars for two Model 64s. Today it's probably double that.

Welcome to the forum, jackmack3169. :)

As Comrad asked, what's the barrel length? And do you have any of the original items it shipped with like the box, tools and papers?

All these will have an affect on potential value, beyond your description of excellent condition.

Sorry it is a 3 inch barrel, and all I have is the gun and a holster for it.

3-inchers are the most desirable barrel length. I think $600 to $700 would be fair retail. A box would of added $50 and more collector interest.

I generally agree with Kernal, who gives excellent assessments of value; in this case I'm going to go a little lower, though, and say a 3" 64 in described excellent condition, gun alone, is going to range closer to $500, give or take. Two in comparable condition were posted for sale here on the forum in the last year and the seller's had to lower to under $500 if I recall.

Welcome to the FORUM! Is there some reason that you have not shot it? My 64-3 is a night stand gun with C.T. laser grips. It does not get fired much, but is accurate as all get out! (4 incher) 3" guns are sought after. I myself have only1 (36) The rest are 4" +. IF you wanted to sell it, I do not think you would have a problem. Bob

64-3

5 to 7 is a good range if I do decide to sell it. I just bought some fresh ammo for it today and will probably use it for my chl in the next 2 weeks. Although it probably would not conceal that well, I do like the feel of it, it fits just right. There is no reason for not shooting it, it has been a pillow gun for a long time, but times are changing and I will pick up a tiny niney for carry.

A 3" barrel K frame will conceal just fine in the right holster. I use this DeSantis holster for my three 3" HB K frames.

Bull Or Tapered Barrel?

I believe that the tapered barrel are in the greatest demand. I had one and let it get away for the reason of the bull barrel being my preference in any model. The buyer seemed to be quite happy with the deal, Oops
You didn't mention a 3" barrel. You inquiry is a little light on details and lacking photos but good luck.

Can't offer much except my liking of my m64. 4 inch pre lock pin on the hammer. One of my least expensive guns and one of the best and most accurate shooters. I'd buy another
