I have a nice one I have owned about 1.5 yrs. now. Very clean, anyone else have one or ever see them? I understand they were made about 3 or 4 yrs, back in early 70's, then all 4" went to heavy barrel.

I believe they made them from 1970 to well into the mid 1980s concurrent with the heavy barrels.
They're available, but you don't see them for sale too often as those that has them keeps them.

Yup, gotta love the Mod 64
Thanks for the education. It is fascinating to see the craftsmanship of the older Smiths. This particular gun has the tightest lock up of any of my Smiths. It rivals my Freedom Arms.Originally posted by BUFF:
The sight and base in that era was often forged as a part of the barrel. The same with many of the adjustable sight guns of the time, especially the stainless ones.

I also have a 2" M64 no dash to go with the three 4" Pencils.
