Have an odd one (to me)

Model 640 no dash, has a replacement barrel that is ported. My internet search came up with it may be a Weigand Hybra-port barrel?

The latch looks weird to me as well. Smooth action, tight lockup, and that barrel…

What is it? I think I MAY have gotten a gem for a steal…

Not really practical and I don’t think the porting will provide any real benefit in a self defense situation or range session. BUT, as a collector piece that is a unique find, Wiegand has been out of business for a while ya?

I think they still sell rails for pistols, and scope rings, but I read that Weigand retired. It’s a cool piece of history. I don’t often find these types of guns so I’m happy to have it

Cool find!

I would really be interested in seeing some night shots of that thing setting off some of the Cor-Bon rounds from the article!

Hey, not my cup of tea. But cool custom work done by a reputable company with verification, so if you got a deal , great buy. So congrats.

6 benjies- I think it was fair, if you account for inflation, the custom work alone would be more than that today. The current S&W 640 pro is nine fifty, and custom stuff often costs more. I bet this would be over a grand if you bought a new 640 and sent it out for a new barrel, portion, polish job, crane detent, polished trigger face, etc.

It’s not that practical, but being a custom gun, it’s my first. I’m happy.
