642-2 is a fine revolver
As stated previously, there is absolutely nothing wrong with current production 642s. I routinely carry a 642-2 (yes, it has an IL that I'll never use)- it's light, accurate, and there have been no problems with trigger pull or operation. For whatever reason (aesthetics? mechanics?), I probably wouldn't have bought a revolver with an IL, but I got a great deal on this one- nearly NIB for $250. It wears some slightly larger and more comfortable Hogue stocks, and I use a Malabar Leather bullhide pocket holster most of the time. This allows me to EDC this revolver in the front pocket of my slacks or shorts. Because of the ease of grab-and-go with the 642, I carry it much more often than my PC Shield 9mm in its Crossbreed Appendix holster. And I absolutely love the PC Shield. Just sayin'.
