Model 65 3"

I forgot to mention the stocks were not factory, I believe. Here is my 686, the stocks on the model 65 looked just like these. These are called target stocks, correct? All the other pics of model 65s stocks had the round butts. The model 65 I am looking at felt very thick and fat in my hand.

In that case, you don't want it.

Just let me know where it is so I can remove temptation from you and help keep your wallet intact. ;)

Yep, those are targets. That's a deal breaker (NOT).
You can sell those for $100-$150 and replace them with a pair of period correct round butt magnas for around $50-$75 and be just that much farther ahead on the deal.
I completely agree with the idea of being there 15 minutes before the next time they open the doors.

A 3" M65 should be a round butt frame.

I agree with Glashaus... but it could be wearing "round to square" target grips that give s round butt gun the same look and appearance as a square butt gun with the grips on. Grips are something that can easily be changed to reflect your shooting/carry preference. It is easy to confirm the grip frame shape by having the seller remove the grips.:) The three inch K and L frame .357s really are some very nice guns. Here are a few from my hoard:

Good luck,

If enough people haven't already said buy it, here's one more...Buy It!
I have the 4" square butt version, old police gun from my Dad's PD. It's one of my go to revolvers. If I had the chance like you do, I would snag it's shorter, curvier little sister in a heart beat.

Yeah, pictures or else it didn't happen!

(Boy, that makes me feel like I'm 15 again.:D)

I wonder if their LGS is open on Mondays?

I bought a 3" 65-3 marked BRPD (Baton Rouge) on the frame below the cylinder several years ago for $400.00. I thought I overpaid at the time but seeing what these go for now I no longer think that. This revolver is super accurate at 25+ yards. That old war horse has been in and out of a holster so many times it looks almost like a nickel revolver, but it is perfect mechanically and the only way anybody will get it from me is if Jr. stupidly decides to sell it after I take the dirt nap.

I am a friend of the OP. He told me of this gun shop with the $700 65-3 so I went up and bought it. It is unfired in the original box.

The same shop has eight remaining 4inch 65's and 66's for sale at $800 a piece. He originally had 121 Smith and Wesson's that he purchased at an estate sale of a former Wisconsin County District Attorney.
