Music, who would you see if you could?

Well, I'm trying not to sound like I'm bragging or anything but I have seen just about all the big acts since seeing the Beatles in 1965. I've seen all the mega rock bands with their original lineups many times over. A one final note, I roadied in 1975 for Skynard. What a blast that was!

Leonard Cohen: he's older than I am and still performing.

Bob Dylan would be as good to see live nowadays.

I would like to see some of the ones that got away like SRV, Jimi, The Doors, Elvis, Zepplin and of course, Johnny Cash.

As far as current performers, the list includes ZZ Top - again, John Fogerty, The Eagles-again, Clapton, Steve Winwood, Aerosmith and Robert Cray.

I will catch him on his next pass thru East Texas.
Merle Haggard -- Are The Good Times Really Over - YouTube

For a while back in the late '80s Marlboro would put on some great concerts with multiple acts. The best seats in the house were 12bux. The best we ever saw was Merle Haggard, TG Shephard, Ronnie Milsap and Louise Mandrel.

The Hag was the last to perform. All the others did 45 minutes with about 10 minutes between acts for the oncoming bands to set up. The Hag played for about and hour and then introduced the band did an encore and the guys started rollin' 'em up and gettin' ready to leave. Then Merle stopped 'em and stepped up to the mic and said. "Hell, I feel like playin' some more country music y'all wanna hear some more?"

Some people had started to leave but the ones that were still in ear shot came back and sat down. He played for another hour. I don't think I ever heard any better country music before or since. The youngest guy in the band looked to be in his 50s. That was some sho' nuff country music. I haven't ever counted how many CDs and old LP albums of his I have but it's a bunch. He's one of the all time greats.

Seen most of the one's I wanted to see when I was younger.

A Day on the Green. Day 1, Oakland Jun 26, 1982
Journey, Santana, Toto

And

A Day on the Green. Day 2, Oakland, Jul 18, 1982
Foreigner, Loverboy, Scorpions, Iron Maiden

But I never saw this guy. Wish I did.

Nobody I have not seen already.

The one I would have like to have seen would have been Elvis. I would not mind seeing SRV again.

That's one i forgot. The late great Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Boy, he could play a guitar.

Chuck

I'm going to pick one I'll never be able to see due to him being deceased, but that would be Jim Croce.

I would like to see the original Beatles (John, Paul, George, Stuart Sutcliffe, and Pete Best) performing in a night club in Hamburg.

The greatest concert I ever saw was Elton John at Schaffer Stadium in Boston. It was July 4th 1976, the Bi-centennial. I was 18 and on a road trip with my lifelong buddy. More lights, lasers and fireworks than I have ever seen since then. And of course, Elton John and his music.

Would love to see that concert again.

As far as best concerts, Rick Wakeman at the Paramount Northwest was tops, and he's still around. Most fun was the mosh pit at a Joe Jackson show at a local venue on 99 called The Place. Saw Flo and Eddie as well as Steppenwolf there too. Probly wouldn't go see them again though, since it would just ruin the memories. Saw Zappa twice at the Paramount and thats the "if he were alive" show, along with SRV, that I'd see.

I agree with the musical souls listed above who have past on (Harrison, Orbison, SRV, Hendrix, Zappa, Morrison, Joplin, Charles, etc) and would also include:
Frank Sinatra
Warren Zevon
Lowell George
Alvin Lee
Lou Reed
Marc Bolan
Jaco Pastorius
Robert Johnson
Bobby Blue Bland
Albert King
John Bonham
Paco De Lucia
Grover Washington Jr.
Jerry Garcia

Now that would be a serious line up.

I've been going to shows now for about 35 years and can honestly say that I've seen everyone I wanted to see, many multiple times. These days though the costs have gotten pretty out of control so I don't go like I used to.

The only bands I wanted to see that I never saw were Dire Straits, given a chance to see Mark Knopfler solo I would go in a minute.

The other one that got away was The Alarm in the 80's. Had tickets to a show, was in Bangor for the show when it was cancelled due to a death in Mike Peters family. That will change this fall though, have tickets to see Mike Peters in New Hampshire in September! So I can scratch that one off the list.

Jefferson Starship was one of my favorites.I loved Frankie Valli but more so with the new band that was formed around him in the seventies.

Never got into country music.Too many ex-girlfriends,pickup trucks and dogs in the songs.I'd swear they were all borderline suicidal.

Am I the only one brave enough to mention groups or songs from the Motown era? Saw the Spinner's in concert and they were fantastic. Can't do the head banging scene all of the time.

The ones I've missed and wish I could turn back the clock:

1) Stevie Ray Vaughn. Saw his brother once....good...but just not the same.

2) Stephane Grappelli

3) Lou Rawls. I had tickets to see him. When we showed up at the theater, we were told he cancelled due to illness. He died shrtly thereafter.

There are many more.....

I would love to see the Eagles.......

Many have mentioned the Eagles. I'd love to see them if they played everything EXCEPT Hotel California. Listening to the radio you'd think that was the only song they ever made, which would be a GRAVE error.

At the risk of thread drift, let me explain why:

Take it Easy
Lyin' Eyes
Witchy Woman
Tequila Sunrise
Already Gone
Best of My Love
One Of These Nights
Take it to the Limit
Life in the Fast Lane

Need I say more?
