Been years since I heard this. Might have it on vinyl somewhere. The man was a genius for sure.

In the mid 80's my band was booked for three weeks at "Doctor Potts" which was the lounge at Holiday Inn Riverfront.

One afternoon we went in to rehearse some new covers. When we started a guy came in and nicely asked us if we could postpone our practice as Ray and his band had rented a banquet room down the hall to rehearse for their show at Riverfront Colosseum.

We happily obliged and were invited to watch the rehearsal if we kept quiet.

We did so and were rewarded with an introduction and handshake from the man himself.
