Hey y'all! New to this forum but have been around guns and shooting for more than 50 years. Thirty years ago I fell in love with the 27-2 but just couldn't afford one. The kids were little, work was slow, you know the drill. This week I found a very clean 27-2 with the 5" barrel, recessed and pinned, target trigger, hammer, and stocks, complete with box, tools, and the original owners manual. (under the tray). She's 95% or better and has been fired very little. Bore is like new, and there is no ring on the cylinder yet. Locks up perfectly and is exceptionally clean. I feel like a kid again! I've been lurking around here for a while and really picked up a lot of good information from reading all your posts! Any way, here she is!

Welcome to the forum!

It's hard to beat the looks and feel of a 5" 27.;)
Looks like you got a nice one too.

BigSkiff,

Great way to start out - a classic! I like the detail in those stocks - especially the right side. ...and,

Welcome to the Forum!

Welcome to the forum and a great looking gun. That very gun is at the top of my list of guns to buy. Congratulations.

You could not have done better on your first 27-2 and it's a beauty.

Welcome to the Forum.

Great gun in my favorite N-frame bbl length.

Thanks for the welcome and the nice comments, y'all. I'm looking forward to shooting this one. I'm not a fan of safe queens, I like to use them as they were intended to be used. Besides, by the time I depart for greener pastures this gun isn't going to increase significantly enough in value anyway. I think the next one on my wish list will be a 27-2 3.5 in in Nickel finish. Thanks again for the welcome!

BS, welcome.

A 5" 27 is one of the many Smiths I let go years ago. I think I miss it more than any other. I'm looking for a replacement so I envy you your find. Congrats!

Dave

Welcome to the forum. That's a genuine cult classic you have there! Back about 1974 I bought my first 5' 27. I was shipped overseas so I parted company with it to raise funds so my young family could join me. Man, did I ever miss that gun.

I looked for a long time b/4 I found it's replacement. Hopefully I won't be put in that position again. You've got a nice one.

Ole Skeeter knew what he was talking about when he described the feel, the balance and the looks of these great guns.
