My First 27-2

Yes that's a really nice one. I'm headed to the range now to test out a few of my recent acquisitions. To me that is the best part, actually firing the thing and seeing how effective one can be with it.

Good luck with yours at the range.

The five inch barrel just looks "right" on the N frame. I like a five inch on the N, four inch on the K frame, and three and one-half on the J frame.

A beautiful gun and a great find. You will surely enjoy it.

Thanks y'all! I'm going to get it to the range before the end of the week, or at least try to. I'll let you know how it shoots!

You started with what many of us consider the ultimate handgun. I love my 6" 27-2, but I'd sure like to have a 5".

BTW - I also prefer smooth grips.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or is that a non-tapered barrel on your M27? How is the barrel marked?

Very Nice! I have one just like it (lnib) except it isn't in a presentation case. I traded a Firestar .45 and $200 for it. It really looks brand new!

Nice gun. It looks like that one was worth the wait.

Well I took her to the range this morning. All I can say is WOW! What a pleasure to shoot. The first three shots were all touching in a straight line left to right. I was shooting against a black bullseye and the black on black sights sort of melt right into the bull at 10 yards. The trigger was the sweetest part of the experience. It is exceptionally smooth and breaks very nicely at about 2 pounds. I only had 50 rounds of .357 ammo with me, and it went way to fast. I couldn't be happier. This old Smith shoots as good as it looks!
